Nursery leaders: has your fund landed?

Nursery and pre-school leaders: your inclusive early years fund should now be with you.

Local authorities paid it out as a lump sum by the end of September. There is no application, and it is not tied to individual children. It needs to be spent on setting-wide inclusive practice by 31 March 2027, and workforce development is one of the areas the DfE names.

So the question is not whether you can afford it. It is what that money will do for your children and your team this year.

Has your local authority confirmed your allocation?

Plan it now, not in December.

Heads and SENCOs: inclusion strategies need to be published on school websites by 31 December 2026. They should set out the barriers you have identified, the activities funded with their budgeted costs, and what those activities are intended to achieve.

December is the busiest month of the school year. Plan it now and there is a whole term to put it into practice, and something real to write about.

If children's wellbeing and staff development are part of yours, we can help you show what you plan to deliver and what you will be able to file. It starts with a free taster session and a short walkthrough with your lead.

Wellbeing is on the timetable. The DfE's revised Relationships, S*x and Health Education guidance came into force this September, and primary children learn about feelings, friendships, how to talk about worries and simple ways to look after their minds.

For schools, the question is not whether to teach it, but how to teach it well and consistently across the year. That is where we come in. Our 25 Superpowers Framework™ teaches one named Superpower per session, and each one returns year on year with a new story or game, so the learning deepens. It maps to the PSHE education core themes and supports statutory Health and Relationships Education, and schools get a Framework Alignment Pack for their evidence file.

For parents, it means a shared language at school and at home: breathe, anchor, try again.

The money is already in the building.

School and nursery leaders: two new inclusion funds have already landed this year.

Mainstream schools have the inclusive mainstream fund, and an inclusion strategy to publish on the school website by 31 December 2026.

Early years settings delivering the free entitlements have the inclusive early years fund, paid through the local authority, to spend on setting-wide inclusive practice by 31 March 2027. Workforce development is one of the areas the DfE names.

Children's wellbeing, and the staff who support it, sit at the heart of inclusion. Swipe for the dates and where the adults fit.

We have written a plain-English guide to both funds, with links to the DfE guidance, so you can decide what fits your setting: https://mindsetmentors.co.uk/post/inclusion-funding-2026-27-schools-nurseries

CarFest Video 2026 13/10/2026

We had such a blast CarFest. It really was the best way to end our summer adventures. So lovely to share some time with Kim from MiniMe Mindfulness - Northants Area and her family. Honestly, it was a 'real pinch me' kind of weekend.
So proud of Tessa Hawes for all that she has created with this new partnership and proud to have been part of the team bringing it to the people for the very first time.

Are you a teacher or teaching assistant looking for a bit of extra work in the school holidays?

I’m looking for someone to join me as a Mindset Assistant.

Someone who loves working with children, knows a few good games to play and doesn’t mind getting involved in a bit of fun!

Teaching or TA experience would be fab, but most importantly I’m looking for someone who is enthusiastic, caring and passionate about helping children build confidence and develop a positive mindset.

Initially, you’d be helping me with our sessions, but there could also be the opportunity to train to lead MiniMe Mindfulness® holiday camp days in the future!

It could be perfect if you’re a teacher or TA who fancies something a little different during the holidays!

💌 Interested? Drop me a message and we can have a chat!

And if you know someone who might be a good fit, please tag them or share this post for me! 💛

Six weeks into the new school year, many children are running on empty. New teachers, new routines, new friendships and a lot of listening.

It often shows up at home as tears over small things, big feelings at teatime, or a child who just wants to be close.

That is not going backwards. It is a full cup that needs emptying somewhere safe, and home is the safest place they know.

Slower evenings and earlier nights help more than anything this week.

Today is World Mental Health Day. Here is what we believe, and what shapes everything we teach.

Mental health is not something we wait to fix. It is something we build, a moment at a time, from the earliest years. A slow breath before a spelling test. A kind word in the playground. A calm voice at bedtime.

Small daily habits lead to long-term growth, for children and for the grown-ups beside them.

Healthy minds, for life.

We teach children how to read, write, count and explore the world around them. But we also need to help them understand themselves.

Giving children the opportunity to talk about feelings, recognise when things don’t feel right and know how to ask for help is just as important.

The earlier we make conversations about mental health normal, the more confident children can become in looking after their emotional wellbeing.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with simply listening.

Mental health is part of health — and it matters from the very beginning.
