Focusing on long lasting colour and s**ggy cuts in a private 1:1 studio in the heart of Carlisle

Sometimes a haircut doesn’t just change the SHAPE of your hair…

It changes the way your colour is SEEN.

Dakota colours their own hair, and while I was cutting it, a lighter section that had been hiding underneath, totally unnoticed, became a face-framing colour block.
We didn’t add anything.
We didn’t “fix” the colour.
The haircut simply ✨revealed✨ it.

A haircut can change how your hair falls, how it moves, what catches the light, and even which pieces become visible.
The same colour can look COMPLETELY different before and after a cut.

Even go back to my last post where I mention how even just a fresh wash and blowdry can change how your colour is perceived!

One of my favourite parts of my job is working with the hair that’s already there.
I’m not judging whether it’s salon colour I haven’t done for you, a home colour, or anything in between.

Dakota said it themself-

“…you took my home-dye job and made it look so cool and intentional with the cut, i’ve had so many compliments!”

That’s exactly what I hope every haircut does: makes your hair feel more like YOUR hair, just YOU at YOUR absolute best.

Colour gets the attention.

But it’s the haircut that does a lot more than you realise, it’s the hair cut that REFINES it all, brings harmony, cohesion

Creates the story

It inTRoduces YOU

Have you ever noticed your colour looking different after a haircut?

Colour always seems to get the credit.
But it’s a good haircut that does the heavy lifting!

I know this isn’t what you’d expect a hairdresser to say… not in this era of lived in blonde and grey blending anyways….

But listen, when someone tells me they’re thinking about booking another colour appointment because their hair feels “meh”, one of the first things I look at isn’t the colour.

It’s the haircut.

If a haircut loses its shape, everything can start to feel off.

Your hair takes longer to style. It doesn’t sit the way it used to. You start reaching for more products. You wonder if your colour has faded or if your hair has suddenly changed.
It’s adding time into a morning routine which is strapped for time as it is!

Most of the time, your hair hasn’t drastically changed.

The shape has just grown out.

A good haircut gives your colour something to work with. It adds movement, lets light hit the hair differently (I love talking the science and psychology of this btw so please do ask me in your next session) and makes everything feel fresh, even if your colour hasn’t changed in months.

You know this already just from wash day when everyone thinks you’ve been to the salon for a fresh do and in reality… you just have clean hair .

I’ve even heard you say it in the studio after a fresh cut and blowdry!

I’m not telling you something you don’t already know; you’ve already LIVED this experience before!

So before you book another colour appointment or a consultation…

Ask yourself this;

Does your haircut still work for you?

Creating modern textured haircuts, wolf cuts, s**g haircuts and lived in layers that are designed to grow out well, because your hair should still feel good weeks after you leave the salon.

Hair that actually lasts.

Call 1800-G3T 1T GURL ☎️

The call is coming from inside the house…

…You’ve said it already.

•“My hair is so thick and I can’t do anything with it.”
•Or the reverse: “My hair is fine and always falls flat.”
•Getting a haircut every 6–8 weeks just doesn’t fit your life, but every style seems to be built around that schedule.
•You’ve got loads of hair, but somehow never the hair you actually want.

You don’t necessarily need more products.
You maybe don’t need another styling tutorial.
You probably don’t need to work harder at your hair at all.

You might just need a haircut that’s designed around your hair, your lifestyle… YOU.

The kind that grows out well.
The kind that works with your texture instead of against it.
The kind that still looks intentional months later.
The kind that makes your sister jealous 😉

Judging by Chloe’s reaction in these photos, I’d say we got nailed that 🔥

There’s no better feeling than getting that QUNTY HAIR TUCK ❤️‍🔥

The devil is in the detail…..

….the MAGIC is in the ✨moment✨

A continuation on a mindset I was trained on; one thing for sure when I was training is that not a single education moment went by when my boss wouldn’t not say “the devil is in the detail”.

A lesson to
- stay focused
-pay attention
-learn from mistakes

14 years later I GET what was built into me and WHY

Taking all the lessons I’ve learned and continue to, this is a foundation of a hair cut session with me.
It’s a journey of me understanding YOU, your goals, your needs and into managing how to craft your hair around the reality of you

It’s how I utilise a hybrid of tools and techniques to craft your hair into something wearable and long lasting

Foxtail tips aren’t about one “type” of colour.

They’re about placement.

Because whether you’re someone who loves bold, vivid colour…
or you’re leaning more into something softer and lived-in now —
the way colour sits in the cut is what makes it work.

I’ve got clients who keep theirs bright and fresh.
I’ve got clients who do them once and just let them grow out.
And I’ve got everything in between.

THAT’s the point!

It’s FLEXIBLE!

You can go vivid.
You can tone it down.
You can leave it completely alone.

No harsh regrowth lines.
No strict maintenance schedule.
No being locked into one version of yourself.

Just colour that’s placed to move with the cut —
so it still looks intentional at every stage.

And if you know my work now, you’ll know:
the cut always comes first.

This just backs it up.

It’s the perfect technique for alt cuts by an alt hairdresser who loves to colour but doesn’t offer big alt vivid work

Whether you colour your own hair and want to enhance it with something you can’t do yourself or even if you’ve never had colour before and want to try something that doesn’t require commitment but is still effective

This is for YOU!

This is JUST what I’ve been needing

you have me for life 👻

MOST HAIR POSTS ARE A PERFORMANCE

and as an ex theatre kid I live for the show

Perfect lighting.
Fresh blowdries.
Every strand placed on purpose.

And listen—there’s nothing wrong with that.
But let’s not pretend that’s real life.

Because you don’t live in a salon chair.

You live in rushed mornings, Cumbrian weather, nights out,
hair tied up, brushed out, slept on.

So if I’m going to say I create “lived-in” hair…
I need to prove it outside of perfect conditions.

That’s what this is.

Client selfies.
Out in the wild.
No direction from me. No curation.

Just real people, living their lives
in the hair I created for them.

And the truth is—
I can’t do your hair the way you do it.

I’m not there on your busiest mornings.
I’m not there when you’ve got 5 minutes to get out the door.
I’m not there on your admin days.
I’m not there to style it for your night out, the photo shoot, the next Instagram selfie.

And that’s okay.

Because you can’t do it the way I do it either.

So somewhere in the middle—
that’s where the work needs to hold up.

Not just when I’ve done it.
But when you have.

Because the standard shouldn’t be
“does it look good when I’ve just finished it?”

It should be
“does it still work when you leave me?”

That can only come from
-collaboration
-listening
-managing expectations
-team work
