This is SUCH a good little trick to have in your shield selection toolbox 👀✨

Have you ever looked at a client and thought… their inner lashes are actually longer than their outers, so why am I automatically putting the smallest end of the shield there?

Sometimes I’ll completely flip my shield around, placing the larger end towards the inner corner.

I’m not doing it just because the inner lashes are long though. I’m looking at the whole eye.

This can work beautifully when I’m dealing with:

→ longer inner corner lashes
→ a low brow bone where I need to control where those lashes finish
→ tight inner corners with limited space
→ downturned eyes where I want to manipulate the finished direction

By giving those inner lashes more room on the shield, I can create a more balanced pathway rather than forcing them around a smaller, tighter part of the shield.

Shield selection isn’t always about using a shield exactly how it was designed to sit.

Sometimes understanding why the shape works gives you the freedom to manipulate it for the eye in front of you.

This is where you can really see the pathway of the lift.

Where did the lashes start?
How much space did they have to travel?
Where did the lift begin?
And most importantly… where did they finish?

With Korean lash lifting, I’m not just trying to get the lashes as “high” as possible. I’m choosing a shield and placement that creates a pathway that works with the client’s natural lashes AND the space around their eye.

Because a beautiful lift isn’t always the tightest lift.

It’s the one that makes sense for the eye in front of you 💗

Same lashes. Three decisions. 👀🌸

One of the biggest changes I’ve made with shield selection is stopping myself from choosing the shield first.

Because before I even think about what shield I’m reaching for, I’m looking at the client in front of me and asking:

How much space do these lashes actually have?

Do they need to travel forward before the lift develops?

And where do I want them to finish?

Because lash length alone doesn’t tell me any of that.

This client has beautiful long lashes, but she also has her own individual eye anatomy, brow bone, lid space, natural lash direction AND an old lift growing out.

So simply thinking “long lashes = big shield” isn’t enough.

I need to think about the entire pathway I’m asking those lashes to follow.

For this client, I knew I didn’t want the lift developing too aggressively towards the lid. I wanted to respect the available space, allow the lashes to travel before lifting and create a finished direction that opened the eye without sending those tips straight back towards the brow bone.

That’s the part of shield selection I think we sometimes miss.

A shield isn’t the decision.

It’s the tool we use once we’ve made the decisions.

Read the eye.
Read the lashes.
Plan the direction.
THEN choose your tool. 🎀

And when you start looking at your clients this way, shield selection starts to make SO much more sense. 👀✨
