This caught my eye today. It was a post about training as a beauty therapist in the early 2000s
I remember I’d just given up my primary education degree and decided I was going to train as a beauty therapist.
My ex boyfriend’s (focus on the ex) friends asked me what I did and he laughed and said “go on tell them what you’re going to do” like it was a huge joke.

Well, I did a 2 year full time course alongside working 40 hours a week on days I wasn’t college, at Alton Towers (again deemed another joke job as I worked in games and arcades at the time)

Looking back I think this spurred me on (I’ve always been a stubborn mule 😂)

I worked hard at Alton Towers for a few years after that until I had my first daughter and decided it was time to put my beauty qualification to use.
I got a job at the AT Spa when Evie was 4 months old, it was hard, I hated leaving her, cried probably every day.

But I carried on, got promoted, loved it and left after I’d had my second daughter Esme, when she was 5 months old to become self employed. (Again cue more tears at leaving my baby)

At this point I was 30 but I’d always dreamed of my being my own boss (always been a control freak too and knew how I would do things 😂)

Fast forward 13 years and I have a successful beauty business which I love with 4 treatment rooms and a team of exceptional women.
I run it with professionalism and an eternal desire to give my clients the best I can.

My timeline wasn’t traditional but it was my own and continues to be.

Life happens, s**t happens, but I continue to show up everyday for the people who continue to believe in me.

So don’t let some idiot belittle your passions because it doesn’t fit into their idea of “a good career”

You’re too big to fit into their tiny ideals box and that’s more than ok.
Follow your dreams, it might take a while but you’ll get there ❤️
