“Sorry, I haven’t shaved my legs.”

Please don’t spend the first few minutes of your massage worrying about that. Your legs are absolutely welcome as they are.

And while we’re here… you can ask for another blanket. You can tell me the pressure is too much, even if you said it was fine a minute ago. You’re allowed to change your mind.

If you fall asleep, lovely. If your brain spends the whole appointment planning dinner and remembering things you forgot to do, you haven’t failed at having a massage.

You can chat. You can be quiet. You don’t need to keep a conversation going for my benefit.

What I would hate is for you to lie there cold, uncomfortable or putting up with something because you don’t want to be awkward.

Telling me what you need helps me look after you. It doesn’t make you difficult.

So when you come to Sakura, come as you are. We’ll work out the rest together.

Everyone talks about the peaceful side of running a massage studio. Nobody mentions how much of it involves a broom 😂

I clear the path, the trees refill it. We’ve got a lovely little arrangement.

Still, I love this little corner of the garden. And getting it ready for you is part of looking after you—even if autumn insists on giving me a warm-up before my first massage.

Everybody needs a little you. You need a little you, too. 🌸

The tea you never finish. The message you answer whilst doing three other things. The “I’ll sit down in a minute” that somehow lasts all day.

At Sakura, you get to be the person being looked after.

Our Sakura Warming Ritual begins with a warming foot soak and your choice of tea or coffee. Take your time, choose your favourite warming massage oil, and settle into 90 minutes of bespoke full-body massage, including your face and head.

No squeezing everything into a rushed appointment. Just warmth, attentive care and time to unwind.

The washing can wait. This time is yours.

📍 Exclusively at Sakura Wellness Institute, Lymm

🌸 MASSAGE THERAPIST WANTED — LYMM
Part-time · Newly qualified therapists welcome

I’m looking for a caring, reliable massage therapist to join us at Sakura Wellness Institute.

You don’t need years of experience. You do need a recognised body massage qualification, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in looking after people.

I’ve been working hands-on for over 20 years, and I’m happy to invest time in teaching the right person. You’ll receive comprehensive training in the Sakura Method, with guidance from me and support working alongside our therapist, Klara.

You’ll begin with body massage, building confidence in treatments, consultations and client care. As you develop and establish yourself within the team, there may be opportunities to learn Japanese Head Spa and, later, facial treatments.

What working at Sakura looks like:

🌿 A calm, appointment-only setting
🌿 Proper time between clients — no back-to-back treatments
🌿 A maximum of five full-body massages per day
🌿 Support while you learn and space to ask questions
🌿 A focus on thoughtful, individual care

The role is based in Lymm only and part-time initially. A self-employed arrangement is preferred, although I’m open to discussing other options with the right person.

I’d love to hear from someone who wants to build a lasting working relationship and grow with us.

Please send a private message with a little about yourself, your massage qualifications and the days you can regularly commit to.

I’ve been thinking about what I’d want to book for myself on a cold, wet day. Somewhere warm, a proper massage, and enough time to enjoy being there.

So that’s what I’ve put together for autumn and winter at Sakura.

You start with your feet in warm water and a tea or coffee in your hands. There’s time to settle in and choose from four warming massage oils, whichever you’re drawn to that day.

Then you have a full 90 minutes of massage, including your face and head. We’ll talk beforehand about what needs attention and how you’d like your treatment to feel.

The foot soak and drink are extra time. They don’t eat into those 90 minutes, and neither does getting dressed afterwards.

I want you to feel comfortable putting an afternoon aside for this. To finish your drink while it’s warm. To enjoy the head massage without already thinking about getting your shoes back on.

I’d happily see fewer people in a day if it means giving each person that little bit longer. That’s how I want Sakura to feel.

Available at our Lymm Institute.

If you’ve ever wondered why there’s so much of Japan in Sakura, the answer starts a long time before the Institute existed.

I was seven years old and began practising karate. I couldn’t have known then how much of my life it would shape.

I trained for most of my life according to the principles of budō. I became fascinated by the history, the etiquette, the honour and humility expected of you. Those values gradually became part of how I lived outside the dojo too.

At the age of sixteen, I passed my first black belt examination. At the time, I was the youngest person to take and pass it. Two years later, I passed my second Dan. Along the way came tournament wins, from regional competitions to events at world level.

I’m proud of those achievements, but when I think about those years, I think just as much about the people. I had fantastic people around me who helped shape the person I became.

I never really thought of karate as a sport. It felt like something that belonged in my life. It taught me a much deeper respect for the body, the mind and the person as a whole.

That curiosity followed me to university, where I studied the body further. Afterwards, I carried on learning, exploring more holistic approaches and the philosophy of ikigai. Over the years, I gathered techniques, practised them and worked to understand the knowledge behind them.

Eventually, all of that found its way into Sakura.

It’s there in the Japanese treatments, of course, but also in how we prepare, how we pay attention and how we treat the person who has trusted us with their care. The way we work has grown out of things I’ve been learning since I was a little girl.

Now I’m passing that knowledge and those methods on to my colleagues. Partly because I’ve realised I cannot be everywhere at once 😂 But also because, honestly, it would feel cruel to spend a lifetime learning something useful and then keep it all to myself.

People took the time to teach me. I want to do the same for others.

So when you see the Japanese influences at Sakura, you’re seeing a part of my history. That seven-year-old me probably wouldn’t have imagined where it would lead, but I'm sure, she would be proud!

You’ve finally booked a massage, you’re lying there, and your brain decides this is the perfect time to plan tomorrow’s dinner. 🙃

Then you start wondering whether you’re doing this whole relaxing thing wrong.

You’re not. You don’t have to arrive with a clear head, and I’m certainly not expecting you to switch off the moment you get on the bed.

Tell me if you’d like the pressure changed. Ask for an extra towel if you’re cold. If something feels uncomfortable, please say so. You won’t offend me, and I’d much rather know than have you quietly put up with it.

You don’t need to keep a conversation going either. I’m quite happy working quietly while you settle.

And if the shopping list pops back into your head halfway through, let it. You haven’t wasted your appointment because you remembered you need milk.

There’s enough to get right during the rest of the week. You don’t need to turn your massage into another thing to be good at.

Come as you are. We’ll start there. 🤍

I want you to feel you can take your time here.

You’ve probably fitted your appointment around work, the school run or a list of things that still need doing. I don’t want you arriving only to feel rushed through something you’ve finally booked for yourself.

Before we begin, we sit down and talk about how you’re feeling and what you need from your treatment. There’s time to get comfortable, ask questions and tell me if something needs adjusting.

Then you can leave the work to me. You don’t have to keep a conversation going or worry about being good company. You’re allowed to just lie there. 🤍

I leave space between appointments because those few minutes matter too. Time to get dressed, have a cup of tea and gather yourself before heading back out.

That’s how I like to look after people at Sakura.

Here at Sakura Wellness Institute in Lymm we pride ourselves on going the extra mile. Here's how.

When rebuilding the property, we tried thinking about a lot of aspects of everyday life and issues. One of them was wider accessibility.

Sakura Wellness Institute in Lymm has been inspired by our own experiences but also by your requests. We've done everything we could to accommodate them.

One of the important elements was a ground level accessible toilet with shower facilities. We went one step further and created a walk-in shower.

We also made sure the ground floor area is free from clutter and can easily be navigated around.

We also welcome support animals and working dogs.
Well all dogs for that matter 🤗 (we loooove dogs!!!)

All our beds are remote controlled and can be lowered or lifted as much as needed. The ground floor treatment room is equipped with an extra wide treatment bed for added safety and comfort. It's great for treatments like pregnancy massage and Japanese Head SPA, but also therapeutic body sessions with elements of physiotherapy.

Members of our team are prepared to assist you in a lot of ways.

From manual handling, to mobility assistance.

If you feel you might need additional support or adjustments, please let us know. It honestly is no trouble at all.

All you need to bring to your sessions is YOU.
We are experts in our fields, so I'm pretty certain we've seen it all.
We all come in different shapes and forms, so never apologize for being you. Whatever that entails.

And as always, your safety, comfort and results are our priorities. Even during the treatment, if you need anything, please let us know.
