I dont just hand out certificates at the end of training. I like to see youre capable, maybe youre not confident yet, thats ok, but capable
Capable of listening to feedback, of trying your best, of wanting to get better.
That shows me your passion for the industry, but also your determination to succeed because, its not easy starting out. Believe me, been there, done it.

☆ I received my certificate today 🥰
I did this course to better understand, not just the subject but my students needs
Going to college to do beauty isn’t everyones ideal environment and so, by accident really, I've created a safe space for those wanting a career in beauty but in an alternative environment.
I know what its like - big groups, unorganised, feeling rushed to get all the units done in time. My college teacher actually made me cry one day, she was that horrible! And so I've made it my mission to do things differently ♡
So here, we are all treated with respect, in a small friendly group, where you're encouraged to be you, be creative and learn at your own pace.
Im asked a lot for funded places- something im working hard at in the background but it takes time.
So for now, Make Me Shine will grow, develop and support you as much as I can.
Thanks for being here and I look forward to what the rest of the year brings!

✨ Accredited vs Ofqual Recognised Courses – What's The Difference? ✨
This is one of the questions I'm asked most often, so I thought I'd explain it in simple terms
💜 Accredited Courses
Accredited courses are often shorter, flexible training programmes approved by an accreditation body.
They're great if you want to learn a new treatment quickly, add services to your business, and start earning sooner.
Benefits:
✔ Usually quicker to complete
✔ Less coursework and assessments
✔ Ideal for adding new treatments to an existing beauty business
✔ Often accepted by insurance providers
💜 Ofqual Recognised Qualifications
Ofqual recognised qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are nationally recognised throughout the UK.
These qualifications are assessed more thoroughly and often include assignments, practical assessments and external quality assurance.
Benefits:
✔ Nationally recognised qualification
✔ Can provide progression onto higher-level qualifications
✔ Often preferred for teaching, employment and funded opportunities
✔ Demonstrates a deeper level of knowledge and competency
But Kelly Which One Is Better?!
The truth is, neither is "better" - it depends on your goals.
If you're an experienced therapist wanting to add a treatment to your menu, an accredited course may be exactly what you need.
If you're building a long-term career, want to progress to higher qualifications, teach in the future, or access more opportunities, an Ofqual recognised qualification may be the better route.
At Make Me Shine, I believe education should fit your goals, not the other way around.
That's why I offer training options to suit different stages of your beauty journey.
Plus with talks of increased regulation within the beauty and aesthetics industry, many therapists are now looking at gaining recognised qualifications alongside treatment-specific training. Nobody knows exactly what future changes will bring, but investing in your education is never a bad thing

STARTING OUT?
I was a beginner once, everyone is at something new!
This is me at my first nail competition at the NEC back in the day.
I thought id share it because, like you right now, I had-
◇ no self confidence
◇ no followers, or reviews
◇ plenty of self doubt
◇ fear of everyone judging me
◇ scared to put myself 'out there'
◇ no idea or a plan
◇ felt my work wasn't good enough
◇ no idea how to get clients
◇ no idea what to charge
The list could go on!!
But, I did it anyway.
I just started, I began, I picked up my tools and joined in the competition that day, with loads of other amazing nail techs that came before me, but it gave me experience, some confidence, and the desire to do better.
So if you're unsure, and all of the above right now!
Just start, and see what happens.
What have you got to loose? A few people not liking you or your work or leave a bad review - in the words of Mel Robbins - Let Them!
