🖤 Why do we carry out skin tests at Untamed Collective? 🖤

A skin test might seem like a small step, but it is an important part of keeping our clients safe before certain colour services.

Hair colour products can contain ingredients that may cause an allergic reaction. Even if you have coloured your hair many times before without a problem, allergies and sensitivities can develop at any stage — which is why previous experience does not automatically mean a test is unnecessary.

A skin test involves applying a small amount of the relevant product to the skin before your appointment. We then allow the required amount of time to pass so you can watch for signs of a possible reaction, such as:

• Redness
• Itching or irritation
• Swelling
• Burning or discomfort
• Blistering or a rash

Skin tests must be completed within the timeframe required by the product manufacturer and our salon procedures. In many cases, this means testing at least 48 hours before your colour appointment.

You may also need a new test if:

✂️ You are a new colour client
✂️ You are changing to a different colour product or brand
✂️ It has been a while since your last colour service
✂️ Your medical history, medication or health has changed
✂️ You have recently had a tattoo, permanent makeup or black henna tattoo
✂️ You have experienced any previous irritation or reaction

A skin test cannot guarantee that a reaction will never occur, but it helps us identify potential sensitivities before carrying out a full colour application.

We understand that making an additional trip to the salon can sometimes feel inconvenient, but we will never compromise your safety to save time. If a required skin test has not been completed within the correct timeframe, we may need to postpone or adjust your appointment.

We’re looking for the right self-employed nail tech to join Untamed Collective and make our nail desk their own.

This isn’t just a chair in the corner of a salon. This is a chance to become part of a growing creative space with a strong brand, an alternative edge, and a team that actually wants to support the right person to build something long-term.

Our nail desk is available Wednesday to Saturday, all day, with flexible times to suit the individual. We offer competitive day rates and we’re looking for a professional, reliable nail tech who wants to become a permanent staple within the salon.
