Lash extentions, they are a Funny thing... A teeny 0.15mm synthetic lash made for the soul purpose of the enhancement of the natural lash, But this teeny little lash packs a punch in so many more ways than just lash enhancement and brings way more to the table than just vanity.
The humble lash extension brings client and lash tech together, two people that ordinarily may never have met, it forms friendships that last.
The lash extension helps people through the toughest of times, providing both a safe space and time to talk through troubles and worries.
That 0.15mm synthetic lash has gifted the gift of laughter over and over again, at times when all that was needed was a good old belly laugh.
That lash has made people realise we are all the same, Instagram isn't reality and everyone's lives aren't all sunshine and rainbows.
And Sometimes that humble lash extension allows the client a good old uninterrupted sleep when life is so hectic outside the lash room.
We have shared pregnancies, births, marriages, new relationships, parenting wows, bereavements, break ups, make ups., menopause, sickness and health and everything that happens in between.
I guess what I have come to realise and trying to articulate (badly) in this post is that lash extensions are so incredibly important for so many reasons.
So, that lady who is going to get her lashes done and needs child care, she may not be going as she is vain she may be going to get some well earnt rest...provide the child care. That lady who is getting her lashes done when she is supposed to be at work, she may be so stressed and needs to talk to a sympathetic ear... Don't report her for taking a longer lunch break!
Lash technicians... Providing much much more than lash extensions..
Clients... Hold your lash tech dear they are there for you, they are more than just your tech, they are your confidant, your sounding block, your tonic and most of all your friend.

Clients need to be washing their lashes after the procedure to remove the adhesive fumes.
Fumes sitting on the lid for 24-48hours can lead to allergies, as does the build up of bacteria and dead skin cells if not washed daily.
If your temperature and humidity is correct in your room, when you place an extension on the lash it cures 50% instantly, after 5-10 mins it’s 100% cured, if your conditions are a little off use super bonder.
Clients lashes last longer if the lashes and lids are cleaned daily.
If your client is not washing their lashes this can lead to Blepharitis or MGD (Meibomian Gland Dysfunction).
This is where the the tiny holes in your water line or tight line become blocked, therefore they are unable to produce oil that is needed to keep your eyes hydrated, this leads to dry eye. If you feel your client is experiencing this you must advise them to visit GP.

Our Story, Megan Thomas Lash Academy
Back in 2015 is when my lash journey began. I was working in childcare at the time, but with my two boys off to school, I felt it was time for a change, something I could work around the children. I booked myself on a lash course, handed my notice in and never looked back!
Eyelash extensions really took off for me. From the very beginning I was booked up with people wanting their lashes done, luckily for me, at that time lash extensions were a relatively new thing. Not only did I love lashing, but it was also amazing to make people feel so good about themselves. I have made so many great friendships over the years due to lashing. When you see the same person every two weeks for years, you build an incredible bond. You get so much job satisfaction as you know how much you are appreciated!
With my lash career booming, people began asking my advice on how to start up their own lash business. A few people I knew had gone on a lash course, they told me they went away feeling deflated and lacking confidence as they didn't feel their training was adequate enough. They were sent away with a certificate on the day, but no backup support. That was when I looked into how to become an eyelash extension trainer.
Being a full-time eyelash extension technician, I experienced the frustration that came with being a beginner. I could teach others to build a successful eyelash extension business. I would be able to answer the questions that we commonly are faced with as a lash technician and how to overcome most hurdles. As I had all that experience under my belt, I really felt this was an area within the eyelash training industry I could excel at. Two years later, I enrolled at college to do my Level 3 Training, and Education Diploma and Megan Thomas Lash Academy were born.
