Something new is coming to Unique Beautique!!!! We’re taking facial sculpting to the next level.
I’ve been talking about what happens to our skin as we age - particularly the changes we can see around the jawline, lower face and neck.
We’ve also looked at collagen and why radiofrequency has become such an interesting technology for supporting ageing skin.
There was a reason for all of that… 😉
I’ve been researching radiofrequency for a long time. I did have the technology a few years ago but wanted top of the line for myself and for you all.
I wanted something that fitted with the way I already work — natural-looking results, healthy ageing and improving the skin rather than trying to change the face.
And I’ve finally found it.
At the end of August, I’ll be completing specialist training in a new advanced treatment designed to work with the skin’s own regenerative processes.
No big reveal just yet…
But if firmer-looking skin, softened lines and wrinkles, or a little more definition around the face and neck are on your wish list, you might want to keep an eye on my page.

What does radiofrequency actually do to our skin?
You may have heard of radiofrequency (RF) in skin treatments, but what is it actually doing?
RF uses electrical energy to create controlled heat within the skin. The type of RF is really important.
Collagen: Collagen gives our skin much of its strength and support.
As we discussed in my last post, we naturally produce less of it as we age — with the changes around menopause often making that loss much more noticeable.
RF and Collagen: When the deeper layers of the skin are safely heated to an appropriate temperature, it creates a controlled thermal response.
This can cause existing collagen fibres to contract and, more importantly, trigger the skin’s natural repair processes.
Fibroblast activity is stimulated, encouraging the production and remodelling of collagen and elastin over the weeks and months that follow.
So when we treat the with RF, it’s not about t filling the skin or freezing a muscle.
We’re encouraging the skin to remodel and strengthen its own support network.
And that’s why RF results aren’t necessarily about one dramatic before and after.
The changes can be progressive as collagen remodelling takes place — helping skin gradually appear firmer, smoother and more supported.
For me, that’s where skin rejuvenation gets really interesting.
We’re not trying to stop ageing.
We’re learning how we can support the biology of ageing skin.
And there’s a reason I’ve been doing quite a bit of research into this recently… 👀

Why does our face and neck start to change as we get older?
Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought your face suddenly looks a little less firm, or noticed that your jawline and neck aren’t quite as defined as they used to be?
There’s a reason for it — and it isn’t simply about wrinkles.
As we age, our skin gradually produces less collagen and elastin — two of the proteins responsible for giving skin its strength, structure and ability to spring back.
For women, menopause can make these changes much more noticeable. Falling oestrogen levels are associated with changes in collagen, hydration, elasticity and skin thickness.
But there’s more happening underneath the skin too.
The fat compartments that once helped give our face its youthful contours can change and redistribute. We also experience gradual changes to facial bone and the deeper supporting structures.
The result?
Skin can begin to feel thinner and less firm, the jawline may soften, jowls can become more noticeable and the skin around the neck can start to look looser or more crepey.
That’s why I don’t believe ageing skin should be treated by simply chasing individual lines and wrinkles.
We need to understand what is changing underneath the skin first.
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be talking much more about collagen, skin ageing and what we can realistically do to support our skin as it changes.
Because healthy ageing isn’t about trying to look 20 again.
It’s about helping your skin be the best it can be at the age you are.

What if your skin doesn’t need MORE… it needs LESS?
Redness. Sensitivity. Breakouts. Dryness. Skin that suddenly seems to react to everything.
We often look for the next product or stronger treatment to fix it.
But sometimes we need to look beyond the skin.
There’s a growing understanding of the connection between our skin, nervous system and immune system, and how things like stress, poor sleep, hormonal changes and feeling overwhelmed may influence how our skin behaves.
It’s also why your skin may tolerate a treatment beautifully one month and feel much more sensitive the next.
So I don’t believe every appointment needs to be about doing more.
Sometimes we stimulate.
Sometimes we strengthen.
And sometimes we slow everything down.
This is something I particularly love about my Sculpt & Lift Ritual. Slow facial massage, lymphatic techniques and time to completely switch off are just as much a part of the experience as the visible sculpting and lifting.
Because I’m not only looking at your skin.
I’m looking at you, how you’re presenting that day and what your skin can comfortably tolerate.
Sometimes your skin doesn’t need a stronger treatment.
Sometimes YOU need a gentler one.
You don’t just get a protocol at Unique Beautique.
You get what you need.

Sometimes your skin doesn’t need a stronger treatment.
Sometimes YOU need a gentler one.
We often think of redness, sensitivity, breakouts or changes in our skin as something happening purely on the surface.
But our skin doesn’t work in isolation.
There’s a growing understanding of the connection between our skin, nervous system and immune system — and how stress, poor sleep, hormonal changes and simply feeling overwhelmed may influence how our skin behaves and responds.
It’s one of the reasons I don’t believe in following exactly the same treatment protocol for every client, every time.
Sometimes your skin is ready for active treatment.
Other times, slowing things down and choosing a gentler, more restorative approach may be exactly what you need.
Even touch, pressure, temperature and our surroundings can feel different when our bodies are under stress.
It’s also why treatments such as my Sculpt & Lift Ritual are about more than how your face looks afterwards. The slow facial massage, lymphatic techniques and opportunity to completely switch off are an important part of the experience too.
At Unique Beautique, I treat the person sitting in front of me — not just their skin.
You don’t just get a protocol. You get what you need. Get in touch if you think this is what you need 😘
