This post is a little different from my usual skincare and aesthetics content, but as a doctor, it’s an important message that I wanted to share here at Glow-Rious. 🤍

We spend so much time looking after our skin, our appearance and the people around us — but please remember to take a moment to look after yourself too.

Get to know what is normal for your breasts and chest. Look, feel and be aware of any new or unusual changes — because it isn’t always a lump.

If something looks or feels different from what is normal for you, please don’t ignore it or feel embarrassed about getting it checked. Speak to your GP. Many breast changes have causes other than cancer, but it’s always important to have a new or unusual change assessed.

Sometimes a simple reminder is all we need. So let this be yours today. 🩷

Collagen — we hear about it everywhere. But what is it actually doing in our skin?

One of the questions I hear regularly is: “I take collagen powder… will it actually help my skin?”

The answer is a little more interesting than a simple yes or no.

Collagen is a structural protein our bodies naturally produce, but its production and quality change with age and can also be affected by factors such as UV exposure and smoking.

So in this post, I’m going back to the biology — what collagen is, the different types, how our skin makes it, why we lose it, what can help support it, and where collagen supplements fit into the bigger picture.
