💋 Bruising after lip filler – let’s talk about it!
Seeing a bruise after your lip filler appointment can be a little alarming, but it’s actually one of the most common and completely normal side effects of treatment.
Our lips have a very rich blood supply, so even with the best technique, a tiny blood vessel can occasionally be nicked by the needle or cannula, resulting in some bruising.
✨ Bruising can:
• Appear immediately or a few hours later.
• Range from a small dot to a larger purple bruise.
• Last anywhere from a few days to around 2 weeks (everyone heals differently!).
This is not usually a sign that anything has gone wrong—it’s simply part of your body’s natural healing process.
To help minimise bruising:
💧 Stay hydrated.
🧊 Apply a cool compress (as advised by your practitioner).
🚫 Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and excessive heat for the first 24–48 hours.
💄 Be patient and let your body heal.
Remember, every client heals differently. Some people don’t bruise at all, while others bruise quite easily.
If you ever experience severe pain, increasing swelling on one side, skin becoming pale, white, or mottled, or any concerns that don’t seem normal, contact your practitioner immediately.
Bruises fade, but beautiful results remain. 💖
