Through my work as a private home carer, I’ve noticed something missing in many support services — individualised personal grooming. Looking after someone isn’t just about meeting physical needs. It’s also about helping them feel like themselves again. 🧖

That’s why I now offer gentle hair washing (including in bed), blow drying, light styling, and basic grooming during visits — something my current clients truly value.

These small touches make a big difference to confidence, dignity, and overall well-being. Not everyone feels 100% comfortable with leaving the house and some just simply can’t due to health or mobility reasons. Having seen this day in day out I completely understand and want to make it easier and gentler for you.

Everyone deserves to feel good and seeing the difference it has made to my clients feeling more motivated, more like themselves and more confident has really prompted me to add this to my services. (I always knew my qualifications in beauty therapy would again be used one day!)

Appin Home Help – Spaces Now Available

With over 20 years of experience in social care alongside a vast background in all aspects of the sector, I provide trusted, compassionate support to help people live independently, safely, and comfortably in their own homes.

I currently work with a number of lovely clients in areas including Morningside, Churchill, Cluny, the Braids, Colinton, Spylaw, Fairmilehead and Currie – and I now have limited weekly availability coming up in the next few weeks.

If you or a loved one needs a helping hand, I can support with:

• Recovery support – help at home after surgery, illness, or hospital stays
• Respite - if you are the main carer for a loved one and need some time to take a break or run errands, be it a couple of hours or a couple of days.
• Meal prep & planning – from shopping and cooking to freezer-friendly meals, ideal for busy mums, older adults, or anyone with limited mobility or special dietary needs
• Companionship & outings – reducing isolation, supporting social engagement, and being part of your local community again
• Practical help – cleaning, organising, and decluttering, with experience supporting clients with ADHD, overwhelm, depression or anxiety
• One-off cleans – including gentle, respectful after-passing cleans or deep cleans for older adults
• Kind, consistent care – support that feels more like extended family than a formal service.

Many of my clients come through their adult children who want peace of mind knowing a qualified, caring, and dependable person is looking after mum or dad.
