Who’s ready for a horror story👻
A little lesson for me in trusting people. In nearly 4 years, I have never experienced this until this week. Most people I welcome into my salon are respectful and loyal. But then sometimes there’s one thing that makes you question all your policies and systems.
It hurts, it feels brutal but ultimately it makes you realise that not everyone deserves a seat in the salon
To the ones who keep showing up, I appreciate you always 🖤

As we enter busy nail season, here is a my updated cancellation and rearrangement policy.
I don’t take deposits as I understand life gets in the way and will always try and accommodate circumstances where I can. But please remember this is my job and loss of earnings impact me heavily.
Any new December clients will require payment of a deposit as these slots cannot afford to sit empty!
Thanks for your understanding and support as ever 🖤

AI can generate an image of beautiful nails to fill a curated feed but it can’t replace the skill, creativity and personal connection of your nail tech. If you see an AI content image from me, know that I am using AI to help me showcase my nail art in the best possible light. In a world of AI, there is nothing artificial about these designs🖤

Warning - do not swipe if you are squeamish about broken nails!
What to do if you have a bad break up?💔
We’ve all been there. A car door, a weight in the gym. The worst kind of trauma. But what can we do to minimise the risk of this happening? The type of nail bed you have determines how long you can realistically go with your nails I’m sorry to tell you. If the balance of the nail is off with too much nail above the nail bed, you are very prone to low down breaks. Applying very long tips also increases your risk of damage to your natural nails. Swipe for more info on this, it all matters when planning your shape. For this client, she is blessed with lovely long nail beds so can handle the length but when this set took on a fight with a kettle bell they didn’t stand a chance.
What to do?
As you can see from the break, this is into the nail bed and bleeding so it would be so painful for me to file or soak. The risk of infection is high so you need to follow these steps at home:
• treat like a wound and wash in antibacterial soap
• if you can, trim the length of the nail down. Not to the break, just take the majority of the length down to minimise the risk of it catching and bending further
• plaster or bandage it up. This is going to be sore and due to it being on your hand, there is an increased risk of infection so the area needs to be clean and covered up.
• Do. Not. Pull. This requires patience for the nail to grow back to at least be in line with your nail bed. I cannot touch it until it is no longer a wound.
• Once the nail has grown, I can re-do your nails. I won’t be able to save the nail, so sometimes we will have to have a rebrand and go for a shape change. The good news is, nails grow so this will only be for a set or two until we can go back to a longer style.
Save this post for how to handle messy break ups. Have you ever wondered why your own nails don’t grow before breaking? Is it your shape that’s too long for your nail bed?
We can’t always stop the break but we can try and reduce the risk and then make sure it heals perfectly

The glamorous life of a salon owner. Sometimes I’ve lived 100 lives by the time I sit down at the desk for my first client of the day! Behind the scenes at Vie looks like a lot of crazy but we love it

The self employed struggles. We are finding our flow as a family of 5 🥴 and as long as the kids are thriving, I won’t be taking myself away from them yet. I’ve made the decision to take until after the summer holidays off and be totally present with them. They’ve got plenty of time to see Mummy being a working boss but right now, I’m soaking up the gummy smiles (and the sick covered clothes) I’ll be back clients, thank you for sticking with me. I’m desperate to hear what’s been going on with you all!🖤
