A few years ago, this situation would’ve sent me into panic mode.

Not just because Bear needed surgery, but because I would’ve been worrying about my clients, my diary and how I was going to make everything work.

The past 2 weeks reminded me how much my definition of success has changed.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy. But I don’t want to build a business that’s so reliant on me that one unexpected day turns everything upside down.

Now, success looks like having systems, boundaries and amazing clients who understand that sometimes life happens.

Because at the end of the day, your business should support your life… not the other way around. ❤️

I’d love to know… what does success in your business look like to you now? Has it changed over the years?

When I first started, I was always looking for the cheapest option…

Now? I look at what will save me time, improve my work, or make me more money.

I’ve learnt that not everything has to be expensive, but some things are 100% worth investing in.

For me, that’s things like further education, a booking system that runs my diary while I sleep, tools I know I can rely on, and builder gel pots (because I’m done scraping the last bit out of a bottle 😂).

These are all things that have genuinely made my job easier and helped me grow my business.

Have I missed anything 👀👇🏼…

Sorry for the story time 😅, but I genuinely think it’s so important to share my experience.

I don’t have an official diagnosis, so I can’t say with certainty that HEMA is the cause. All I can do is share the pattern I’ve noticed over the years and why I believe I developed a reaction.

When I first started in the industry, we didn’t have the education we have today. I was using products with much higher HEMA percentages, curing them in a cheap lamp that probably wasn’t curing them properly, I didn’t wear gloves, and I had no idea how important it was to keep uncured product off my skin.

Looking back, I genuinely believe those years of repeated exposure are what caught up with me.

This post isn’t about creating fear around gel allergies. It’s about helping nail techs learn from my mistakes so hopefully they never have to experience the same thing.

If sharing my story encourages even one nail tech to wear gloves, keep product off the skin, or rethink the lamp they’re using, then it’s worth it.

Ask me ANYTHING, I genuinely love to speak about this!! 👇👇🏼

We need to stop glorifying 45 minute appointments.

Quality nails take time.

The majority of this appointment isn’t spent applying product - it’s spent on safe removal, thorough prep, refining the shape, and making sure every detail is right.

Your application might only take 15 minutes, but it’s everything before and after that creates long-lasting, healthy results.

Fast doesn’t always mean better.

Do you agree, or do you think the industry still values speed over quality? 👇

Every client’s nails are different. That’s why every clients appointment should be too.

This client’s journey is a perfect example of why it is important to offer ‘prescriptive’ type manicures.

• We started with gel polish.
• When that wasn’t working, we tried builder gel.
• When that still didn’t solve the problem, we took a step back and asked why.

The issue wasn’t the product, it was the condition of her natural nails.

By introducing IBX at every appointment to strengthen and repair the nail plate from within, we finally solved the problem - her nails stopped peeling & her gels lasted 4 weeks chip free.

Her natural nails are healthier than before she came to me.

As nail techs, it’s easy to think we need a stronger product when something isn’t working. But often, the answer is understanding what’s happening underneath the product.

That’s why I believe great nail technicians don’t just apply nails, they solve problems.

Have you tried IBX? Let me know👇
