A little reminder!
Got a brow wax coming up? One of the most common reasons for skin lifting or âwax burnsâ during a brow wax is using active skincare products before your appointment.
Ingredients like retinol, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, Accutane (isotretinoin), and strong exfoliants can make your skin thinner and more sensitive. When wax is applied, it may remove not only the hair but also the top layer of skin.
To help prevent this:
Stop using retinol and similar active ingredients 5-7
days before your appointment.
Avoid exfoliating the area for 3-5 days beforehand.
Let your brow artist know about any skincare
products or medications youâre using.
Keep your skin well moisturized and hydrated leading up to your appointment and keep your face out of the sun!
A little preparation can go a long way in protecting your skin and ensuring a smooth waxing experience. If youâre ever unsure whether a product youâre using could affect your appointment, donât hesitate to ask beforehand.
