✨ 🤎COLOUR CORRECTION TRANSFORMATION 🤎✨

Just take a look at the before photos and count how many different shades and tones are present throughout the hair. You’ll see dark bands, lighter patches, warm orange tones, muddy brown areas, and even green hues from previous colour applications.

What many people don’t realise is that before we can even think about applying the desired target colour, all of those uneven tones have to be carefully identified, corrected, and balanced. Colour correction isn’t simply a case of putting one colour over another and hoping for the best. Every section of the hair can require a completely different approach depending on its colour history and condition.

My client had used black box dye for around 10 years before attempting to remove it herself with a home colour remover. This left the hair patchy and uneven. She then tried bleaching it at home, which exposed strong orange tones, before applying another brown box dye to cover it. Unfortunately, this resulted in green, patchy areas throughout the hair.

This is why I always stress the importance of seeking professional advice before colouring your hair at home. Without an understanding of colour theory, underlying pigments, and the chemical processes taking place within the hair, it is incredibly easy to create a situation that becomes far more complicated, damaging, and costly to fix.

Before I could achieve this final result, I had to carefully balance all of those different shades throughout the hair, creating an even canvas that would allow the target colour to sit beautifully and consistently from root to end. That process takes time, knowledge, patience, and a deep understanding of how colour behaves.

A huge amount of my knowledge comes from investing in my education, including completing the Goldwell Master Colourist programme. The skills and techniques learned through advanced training allow me to tackle challenging corrections safely while protecting the integrity of the hair wherever possible.

Seeing my client’s reaction to the finished result was incredibly rewarding. She was completely overwhelmed by the transformation, and moments like these remind me why continual education and professional expertise are so important.

If you’re unhappy with your hair colour, please don’t keep layering box dyes in the hope that it will eventually work itself out. A professional consultation can save your hair, your time, and often a lot of money in the long run.

Big transformation for the lovely Tania today, whilst she looks like her hair is thick in her before pictures, it is infact very very fine and knots easy! So we decided to give it a good old chop and freshen up her colour with a warm chocolate brown adding in Goldwell pink pure pigments for a more bespoke brown to give her a complete new look! 😍🤎
