Not all polynucleotides are created equal… and neither are the techniques used to deliver them. ✨
I was carrying out a patient’s nine monthly polynucleotide maintenance treatment today, and it got me thinking about how much the choice of product and technique matters.
For the delicate under eye area, my preferred polynucleotides are Vitaran and Plinest, and I personally favour a mesotherapy technique.
Why?
Because alongside delivering the polynucleotides at the correct depth, the multiple small injections create controlled micro injury, which may offer an additional stimulus for the skin’s natural repair processes.
Of course, there is a trade off.☺️
With mesotherapy, you can expect some visible bumps and potentially redness or bruising occasionally. I usually advise allowing a couple of days for the initial downtime, although this can vary. Most patients report feeling absolutely fine about it the next day.
Often nothing that a well placed pair of glasses or oversized sunglasses can’t help disguise! 😎😂
Sometimes it just requires a little forward planning. Perhaps scheduling your appointment when you’re working from home the following day rather than heading into a day full of meetings.
For me, treating the under eye area isn’t simply about injecting polynucleotides. It’s about selecting the right product, choosing the appropriate technique and understanding what we’re trying to achieve.
And whilst there are different ways to deliver polynucleotides, they’re not necessarily interchangeable.
The product matters. The technique matters. And the reasoning behind both matters. 🤍
And yes, I could have chosen a trending audio for this, but why would I when eye of the tiger popped up as an option? 😂

🤍🍃 INTRODUCING THE PRACTITIONERS 🍃🤍
Well, I suppose it’s my turn now! 😂
I’m Em, you’ve probably met me before. But a reintroduction is probably needed for anyone new here! I’m a pharmacist, independent prescriber, aesthetic practitioner and the woman behind this new version of The Skin Co. 🤍
I’ve been a pharmacist for 16 years, working in a variety of settings, including community pharmacy, hospital and as a Superintendent Pharmacist. My specialties now are perioperative medicine in hospital and aesthetics.
I offer injectables, microneedling and skin peels; my passion is regenerative aesthetics. 🧬 I LOVE the science behind treatments, understanding how they work and how we can support healthier skin and natural looking results.
And as my existing patients know, I’m always happy to answer healthcare questions. I want you to understand your options and feel confident in your decisions.
That’s the thinking behind The Skin Co: bringing science, skin health, aesthetics and wellbeing together with practitioners who genuinely care. 🍃
Outside the clinic, I’m mum to two beautiful, feisty girls (my greatest achievement) and wife to a gorgeous (mostly) patient man who puts up with my million ideas and a brain that never switches off! 😂
Home is a bit of a menagerie: one dog, three cats, six chickens and a hamster. 🐶🐱🐔
I’m obsessed with my cottage garden, growing flowers and pottering in my Crocs. 🌸 But I’m also a complete magpie for sparkly things and I LOVE Dolly Parton. One minute I’m covered in soil, the next I’m eyeing up another pair of sequin trousers for my next karaoke visit. ✨😂
Add candles, blankets, the log burner and cosy autumn evenings, and that’s me. 🍂
A pharmacist who loves science, has a head full of ideas and a wardrobe torn between gardening clothes and sequins.
Thank you for following the clinic renovation and supporting my vision. I’m so excited for what we’re creating here. 🤍

I can’t quite believe I’m at the stage where I can walk around my little clinic and see it all finished. 🥹
Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a bit of fine tuning and those little finishing touches to do! 😂 But this space already has such a lovely energy, and I still can’t quite believe it’s mine.
It’s so surreal seeing something I’ve imagined for so long become a reality. 🤍
Well… I did ask for a sign ☁️😂✨

Microneedling isn’t really a one and done treatment.
That post treatment redness is your skin responding to the treatment and beginning its repair process.🩹 (Don’t worry it doesn’t last long!☺️)
A course of treatments planned around your skin and your goals, can help improve the appearance of skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and acne scarring.
And what you do between appointments matters too. The right home skincare helps support your skin throughout the process.💪🏻
Good skin is rarely about doing one big thing. It’s about doing the right things consistently.
If you’re wondering whether microneedling is right for your skin, send me a message and we can have a chat 🤍
Jokes aside, I really do care about your skin and your journey. 🤍
There’s no one size fits all when it comes to skincare. I’ll always take the time to listen to what’s bothering you, what you’d like to improve and help you find something that feels right for you.
And if you haven’t got a clue where to start, that’s absolutely fine too! I offer free consultations so we can sit down, have a chat and figure it out together.
No pressure. No obligation. Just honest advice and a plan that works for you and your skin ✨🤍

My personal journey has taken me from feeling like I needed to wear foundation every single day… to now only owning and wearing a tinted SPF, even for events! 🤍
Don’t get me wrong, I still love my blusher 😍 but my base is SO simple now.
And one of my absolute favourite things to hear from people is…
“I don’t feel like I need to wear as much makeup now.”
Because it’s about so much more than skin.
Waking up, looking in the mirror and feeling that little bit more confident in your own skin… that’s everything. ✨
