WELL… I DID IT! 🏃🏼‍♀️🎉
My 5th (and very definitely my LAST! 😂) Great North Run is done — and I crossed that finish line in 2 hours 20 minutes.
It’s certainly not my fastest time, but at this stage I’m just incredibly proud that I got myself round! 🤣 My legs may not be quite what they used to be and, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m getting a little older! 😂
And of course, there was the small matter of my brother Kev Howland beating me this time… 🙄😂 But in his defence, he is 8 years younger and has legs approximately twice the length of mine, so I’m calling that an unfair advantage! 🤣
This year’s training was honestly tough. I really didn’t enjoy it and, as most of you will know, there has been plenty of winging from me along the way! 😂 So getting to the start line, and then somehow getting to the finish line, was a real challenge — especially on such a hot day. 🥵
But the biggest reason I kept going was Tynedale Hospice at Home. ❤️
I set myself an initial fundraising target of £350 and thanks to the incredible generosity of my friends, family and my wonderful clients, I have raised an amazing £700! 🥹❤️
I honestly can’t thank you all enough for every donation, message, word of encouragement and bit of support along the way. It means so much to me, and knowing that the money is going towards such an amazing local charity made every painful training run and every mile on Sunday worthwhile.
The Great North Run really is an incredible event to be part of, and I’m so pleased that, despite all my moaning about the training and how much harder it has become, I managed to do one final GNR. ❤️
So that’s it… 5 Great North Runs completed. 🏅
I’ve loved being part of it, I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved, and I’m especially proud of the £700 raised for such a wonderful cause.
But my running shoes are now well and truly BINNED! 👟🗑️😂

Omg! It’s almost here! 😬😩 I can’t believe I’m doing this again! What on earth was I thinking?! I blame my brother Kev Howland for getting me drunk in Edinburgh last year & talking me into it ! But the good thing about this is that I’m running for an amazing charity, Tynedale Hospice, that means a lot to me. So many of my lovely clients, family and friends have needed the support of this charity, and knowing that makes every mile feel even more worthwhile. ❤️

Well… my Great North Run participant number has arrived, so I suppose there’s officially no getting out of it now! 😂
Training is going really well and I’m on track, although I have to admit I’m definitely not as fast as I used to be! 🫣
Obviously I’ve been hoping to beat my brother Kev Howland again this year… but looking at our training, I think he might finally have me this time! 😩😂 Although I’m not giving up just yet! 💪🏼
The real reason I’m doing it, though, is to raise money for the amazing charity Tynedale Hospice at Home. ❤️ So many of my lovely clients have family members or friends who have needed and benefited from the incredible service they provide, and I know just how much this wonderful local charity means to so many people in our area.

Tynedale Hospice at Home supports individuals and their families during some of the most difficult times imaginable.
