I’m really honoured to have been asked to judge the Hairdresser of the Year category at the West Yorkshire Hair & Beauty Awards 2026.

I take this sort of thing seriously because our industry deserves standards, honesty and recognition for the people genuinely pushing it forward.

For me, this won’t be just about who has the biggest following or who shouts the loudest online. A huge social media presence doesn’t automatically make someone a great hairdresser. I’ll be looking far more at quality, consistency, technical ability, attention to detail and genuine passion for the craft.

Your personal statement matters too. I want to hear your voice, your story, your thinking and your why. Not something that feels copied, polished by AI or written to tick boxes. Authenticity stands out immediately.

I’ll mainly be viewing entries through social content, but I’ll be looking deeper than numbers. Consistent work. Strong consultations. Precision. Versatility. Identity. Growth. The kind of stylist whose clients trust them completely and whose work still holds up when you look beyond the perfect reel cover.

Excited to see the talent we have here in Yorkshire because there’s a lot of it.
