Long established business. Barber shop for eighty years, but only 21 years since I took over. Traditional Barber Shop, with low prices and brief waiting times.

Family business since 1979, (Malcolm is my father, who took over in that year).

I've just retired, have closed my barber shop and have two vintage barber chairs to sell. I am including pictures of them, as they were in the shop. They are in need of upholstering and the metal needs to be repainted. We had to empty the hydraulic oil to move them, as they are very heavy, but they are solidly made, and around eighty years old (1940's). Offers invited.

RETIREMENT
Thank you to all my customers over the years, but I will be retiring on Saturday 27th June 2026.
This was not something that I wanted to do at this point, but circumstances beyond my control have brought forward a decision I had hoped to put off for a while.
The premises have been sold, so the shop will not be a barber shop anymore, after 89 years of all of us cutting your hair.
I’d like to remember Alf Levy, the original owner of “Alf’s” from 1937 to 1979, which then became “Malcolms Hairdressers” in 1979, until 1996.
I took over from my dad, Malcolm Miles, in 1996, on July 1st, when the shop became “Malcolm the Barbers”, and eventually just “Malcolms”.
Thank You for your custom, and for allowing me to drone on endlessly about Leeds United, or my weird musical tastes.
I don’t like goodbyes, but this is David Miles, also known as “Malcolm”, wishing you all the best for the future.

Back to normal opening hours, hopefully this will last! Mum in law out of hospital, no need to bring the dog to work. Thanks for your understanding, it's been a very difficult month, hoping to see you soon.

Afraid it's back to temporary hours again, my mum in law is back in hospital, so I'm dog-sitting. I will be open 9am to 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday, still closed 12 to 1pm for lunch. This Tuesday, the 19th, I'll only be open in the morning. Thanks for your understanding, hoping to be able to work normal hours again soon.

As of today, I'm back to normal working hours, hope to see you soon.

My mum's funeral was today. I just need one more day to inform everyone, then I'll be back at work. The shop will reopen on Friday 8th May, from 9pm to 3pm, except 12 to 1pm lunchtime. Hopefully, by next week, my mum in-law will be out of hospital, and I can resume normal hours. Thanks again for your understanding at this time.

I'm afraid that the shop is going to be closed for a while, as my mum has just passed. I'm here with my brother, sat with her. Once the funeral has taken place, I'll be back at work. Hoping to see you soon, thanks.
