❓️The million dollar question....What makes your milk different to supermarket milk? 🤔

🤩 Where do we start...?🤩

⭐️Fresh and as local as it gets⭐️
-The cows live on the farm and graze the fields surrounding the shop.
-The milk moves approximately 50m from the milk tank to the pasteurisers in the shop. The milk doesn't leave the farm.
-Milk will be pasteurised, bottled and available to buy within 24hrs of the cows being milked, sometimes the milk from the morning milking will be in the shop that afternoon!

⭐️Gentle pasteurisation⭐️
-Pasteurisation of milk was developed by the famous scientist Louis Pasteur in the 19th Century.
-Heat treating milk kills potentially harmful pathogens like Salmonella, E.coli and Listeria that can be, but are not always present in milk. We pasteurise milk for the same reasons we carefully cook certain foods.
-Our milk is pasteurised to 65°C.
-Gentle pasteurisation means there is no impact on the taste or nutritional benefits of the milk, it makes it safer for everyone to drink.
-Raw milk (un-pasteurised) can be safely consumed but is not recommended for pregnant women, children or those with a compromised immune system.

⭐️Non-homogenised⭐️
-Homogenisation is the process of passing milk through tiny valves to break up the fat globules into tiny particles, spreading them evenly through the bottle. This creates a more uniform product for supermarkets to sell but means you no longer get the traditional cream line.
-Our milk does not undergo homogenisation, or any other processing other than pasteurisation. This means you will still get a layer of cream at the top of the bottle if it's left to sit in the fridge.

⭐️Whole milk⭐️
-All of our milk is 'Whole Milk'. This means nothing has been removed.
-The fat content will be around 4.3-4.6%, depending on the diet of the cows at the time.
-When the cows graze during the summer the fat content might be slightly less. When they come inside for winter and are fed silage (preserved grass) the fat content may be slightly higher, sometimes up to 5%.
-Our milk is therfore closest to the 'blue top' milk in supermarkets.
-It's marketed as 'full fat' milk. But remember its 96% fat free!!
