🪵 I wish someone had told me THIS before I started offering Wood Therapy…
From the outside, it can look like a few wooden tools and some simple massage techniques.
But once you understand how to use those tools properly, you realise there’s so much more to it. 👇
1️⃣ Technique matters more than pressure.
Harder doesn’t mean better. Knowing how, when and where to use each tool is what makes the difference.
2️⃣ It’s not just about body sculpting.
Wood Therapy combines rhythmic massage techniques with specialised wooden tools and can be incorporated into treatments focused on body contouring, circulation, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
3️⃣ One treatment isn’t the whole story.
Clients may notice changes after a session, but Wood Therapy is often offered as part of a consistent treatment plan alongside healthy lifestyle habits.
4️⃣ Every tool has a purpose.
They’re not interchangeable! Different shapes and designs allow therapists to work different areas of the body and create different treatment experiences.
5️⃣ Pain is NOT proof that it’s working.
A client shouldn’t leave covered in bruises because you believe “no pain, no gain.” Good technique is controlled and adapted to the individual.
6️⃣ Your knowledge is what makes the treatment valuable.
Anyone can buy a set of wooden tools. Learning how to use them safely, confidently and professionally is what turns those tools into a treatment you can actually build into your business.
And THAT is why proper training matters. 🪵✨
If you’re a beauty or massage therapist looking to add Wood Therapy to your treatment menu and learn the techniques properly…

This is what happens when you stop treating MLD, body contouring and post-op massage as “just another treatment” and start learning how to do them properly.
Better technique.👏

🚨 The 6 biggest post-op horror stories I’ve seen... and they all could have been avoided.
After years of working with post-operative clients, I’ve seen some shocking mistakes. Not because therapists don’t care, but because many simply haven’t had the specialist training needed to safely support surgical recovery.
Here are just a few...
😳 A client receiving deep tissue massage or wood therapy just 3 days after surgery because someone believed “more pressure means better results.”
😳 Therapists treating post-op clients as if it’s just another massage, without understanding healing stages, contraindications, or surgical procedures.
😳 Using the same treatment protocol for every client, despite every surgery, surgeon, and recovery journey being completely different.
😳 Missing the early signs of fibrosis, only to see it become much harder to manage later.
😳 Starting treatment without a thorough assessment, overlooking important medical history, red flags, and where the client is in their healing journey.
😳 Believing recovery is over once the stitches come out, when in reality, healing, scar remodelling, and tissue changes continue for months.
The truth is, post-operative recovery is a specialist field. It’s about much more than massage—it’s about understanding the science of healing and knowing exactly what your client needs at every stage of recovery.
When you have that knowledge, you don’t just provide a treatment... you become part of your client’s healing journey.
💬 Which of these surprised you the most?
If you’re ready to build your confidence and learn how to safely treat post-op clients while achieving the best possible outcomes, comment POST-OP below and I’ll send you all the details about my specialist training.
👀 You’d be surprised how many people are obsessed with their belly button after a tummy tuck...
It might sound like a small detail, but for many patients, the shape and appearance of the belly button can make a huge difference to how they feel about their final result.
Every belly button is different. Some become distorted, some heal with scar tissue, and in some cases, they can even appear to disappear after surgery.
One of my favourite techniques to help encourage a more natural-looking shape during recovery is belly button shaping. When performed at the right stage of healing and with the correct technique, it can help support a better aesthetic outcome as part of the recovery process.
It’s often the little details that make the biggest difference.
If you’re a therapist working with post-operative clients, understanding techniques like this can help you provide safer care and achieve better outcomes for your clients.
