Something experienced by so many of us, but not addressed enough.
I think it’s time we stopped teaching therapists how to deal with burnout and more how to run a business that doesn’t create one in the first place.

One of the best pieces of advice I have been given is to stop looking sideways.
Why?
I think as skin and beauty professionals it’s really easy to look at what everyone else is doing.
What technology they have
What services they offer
How they set up their treatment room
How fully booked they may be
What prices they charge
But the problem with this is that you don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes.
Their client base
Their training journey
What days they work
Their overheads
It’s all personal to them.
It’s great to take inspiration from others. But when you start to fixate on what someone else is doing, there becomes a problem.
You’re spending time you could be working on your own business, looking sideways.
And time is valuable.
When you start looking inwards everything changes.
You start making your business work for you. And evolve in the ways you want to evolve.
Thats where the real shift is.

The question I want you to ask yourself is this
Are you currently running the business that you had in mind when you started in this industry?
As much as we say we do it for the love of the job. It has to provide an income.
But not just breaking even.
The kind of income that gives you the lifestyle you want.
Freedom.
Flexibility.
Holidays without the financial burden.
Your diary make be busy and fully booked. But is it actually making you a profit?
Or do you find yourself playing catch up for taking a bit off time off.
There is a way to turn this around.
It all starts with looking deeper into what is going on in your diary.
There’s a method.
Once you really delve beneath the surface you can move from busy and in demand and running week to week…
To being busy and in demand AND highly profitable
And when you finally have a business that gives you both the income and the lifestyle you wanted even you first started out
You won’t ever look back!

You’re busy…fully booked yet still running week to week?
A busy business is a successful one right?
But being in demand and being profitable are two very different things.
Ask yourself this. Do your prices cover everything?
And I mean everything.
Sick days.
Business trips.
Training days.
Pension.
Insurances.
Holidays.
Because I can guarantee the prices you’re charging probably cover your immediate expenses.
But leave you trying to make up funds for the everything else.
And that’s where you’re going wrong.
You’re looking at what it costs you to do the job, rather than what it actually costs you to run the business.
Because getting your pricing right means pricing for the business you actually want to run.
You may think your logo is your brand…but this is such a small part.
Branding can be the difference between a clients remembering your business and trusting it.
That’s why it’s important to get it right.
Loosely connected profiles make it harder for that trust to be built.
So next time you post think about the client you’re trying to speak to.
When you start speaking to the people who are actually listening, that’s when everything changes. 👂
