My client had her hair done somewhere else not at a hair extension specialist salon, just a salon that offered extensions.

And this is exactly why going to someone who specialises in extensions matters.

Anyone can learn how to apply the hair, but there should be a reason behind every colour you choose and every placement you make.

In her consultation, the inspo picture she had originally shown was much lighter than what she actually wanted. So rather than just copying the picture, it was about asking the right questions, what do you like about it, what don’t you like, how light do you actually want to feel?

Then we looked at how she wears her hair. When she put it up, the lighter tapes underneath were completely visible.

Colour matching is scary… until it isn’t 👀

One of the biggest things I teach is that your extension colour does not always need to be a perfect 100% match.

If the tones work together, you can use slightly lighter or different depths to create softness and dimension through the hair instead of one flat block of colour.

It does take time, practice and confidence to train your eye but once you start understanding tone, depth and placement, colour matching becomes so much easier.
