Barrier compromised? Panthenol is your ally. 🌿
Panthenol — pro-vitamin B5 — is one of the most clinically well-supported ingredients for sensitive and treatment-affected skin. Yet most people walk straight past it on ingredient lists without knowing what it does.
Here's the mechanism:
— Panthenol penetrates the outer skin layers and converts to pantothenic acid
— Pantothenic acid actively supports cell regeneration and barrier recovery
— It reduces transepidermal water loss — keeping moisture where it belongs
— It interrupts the irritation cycle that keeps sensitive skin reactive
Look for concentrations between 1% and 5% on your ingredient label. That is the evidence-based range for meaningful sensitive skin benefit.
Safe, effective, gentle. Exactly the combination fragile skin needs.
👉️ A note for Acne Awareness Month: panthenol is also one of the most underrated ingredients for acne-prone skin — not because it treats breakouts directly, but because it helps repair the barrier damage that keeps skin inflamed and reactive. Worth knowing.
This is Week 2 of our June series: The ABC of Natural Ingredients.
One key ingredient per week — the science, the mechanism, and what to actually look for on your label.

Not all aloe is created equal. 🌿
Aloe vera is one of the most studied botanicals in dermatology — but its benefits depend entirely on how it is formulated.
Here's what pure, well-formulated aloe actually does:
• Polysaccharides form a protective film on the skin surface, reinforcing the barrier and reducing water loss
• Anti-inflammatory compounds — including acemannan and aloesin — calm the biological processes behind redness and irritation
• Humectant action draws and retains moisture without the greasiness of heavier occlusives
This makes aloe particularly valuable for skin that is sensitive, reactive, post-treatment, or simply exhausted.
This June, we're running a full series: The ABC of Natural Ingredients.
One ingredient per week. The science, the benefits, and what to look for on your label.

If your skin is going through treatment — or recovering from it — choosing SPF is genuinely complicated. And ‘just use a high factor’ is not good enough advice.
Here’s what to actually look for:
🔍 Ingredients:
• Mineral filters: Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide (they sit on the skin, not inside it)
• Fragrance-free — always
• No alcohol, no essential oils
• Hypoallergenic
🧔 Texture:
• Cream for very dry or post-radiotherapy skin
• Gel for lighter coverage on warmer days
• Stick for precision on scars, ear rims, and the scalp parting
And this Friday is Don’t Fry Day — which means: yes, even on a grey UK afternoon, reapply every two hours.

Your SPF ritual is 60 seconds.
Here's why those 60 seconds matter more than you think. 🌱
When stress rises, the body responds — and the skin is one of the first places it shows up.
Elevated cortisol reduces the skin's ability to retain moisture by up to 30%, weakening the barrier and leaving it more vulnerable to UV damage.
Which means the moments in life that ask the most of you are exactly the moments your skin needs more protection, not less.
And here's the other side of it: brief, repeatable physical rituals are one of the tools most recommended in cognitive behavioural therapy for reconnecting with your own body during difficult periods.
Not grand gestures. Just small, consistent ones — done with intention.
Your morning SPF is that ritual. Sixty seconds. The same gentle gesture, every day. For your skin, and for yourself.
This Sun Awareness Week and Mental Health Awareness Week — protection is care. 🌱
Save this if it resonated. Share it with someone who needs a reminder that small rituals matter.

Cloudy doesn’t mean harmless.
Up to 80% of UV rays pass through clouds in the UK. And if your skin is sensitive, post-treatment, or reactive, that matters more than most people realise.
SPF 50+ is not vanity. It’s not a summer product. It’s the simplest daily habit that reduces your skin’s long-term risk — whether you’re managing eczema, recovering from radiotherapy, or simply living with skin that needs a little more care.
Don’t skip these areas:
• Ears — front and back
• Neck — all the way round
• Décolleté and upper chest
• Hands and fingers
• Scalp parting
Apply generously. Reapply every 2 hours if you’re outdoors.
This Skin Cancer Awareness Month — protection is care. Every single day. 🌱

It's Allergy Awareness Week — and for anyone managing sensitive or reactive skin, this one's for you. 🌸
Skin allergies and sensitivities affect millions of people in the UK. Whether it's contact dermatitis, eczema triggered by a product ingredient, or simply skin that reacts to things it shouldn't — you deserve skincare that genuinely works with your skin.
The most common triggers to know about:
→ Fragrances — the number one cause of cosmetic contact allergies
→ Preservatives like parabens and formaldehyde-releasers
→ Certain plant extracts — natural doesn't always mean safe for sensitive skin
→ Alcohol-based formulations that disrupt the skin barrier over time
What to look for instead: short ingredient lists, fragrance-free formulations, and brands that are honest about what they leave out — not just what they put in.
At Alomar, our products are built around pure organic aloe vera with minimal additives — making them gentle enough for sensitive, reactive, and post-treatment skin.
Always patch test new products. Your skin is unique. 💚
This is also the final post of our April series — thank you for following along all month.

Happy Earth Day. 🌍
Aloe vera has been used as a skincare ingredient for over 5,000 years. No synthetic compounds, no complex chemical processes — just a plant doing what it does best.
At Alomar Health, that's the foundation everything is built on. Organic aloe vera as the hero ingredient, a short and honest ingredient list, and formulations that work with your skin — not against it.
We believe that choosing clean skincare is both a health decision and a values decision. What goes on your skin is absorbed by your body. And what gets washed off eventually finds its way into the world around us.
This Earth Day, we're thinking about the choices we make — and the ones we're proud of.

Let's have an honest conversation about water and your skin. 💧
You've probably heard 'drink 8 glasses a day for glowing skin' more times than you can count. But what does the evidence actually say — and what's being overstated?
✅ What's genuinely true:
Mild dehydration can make skin look dull, feel tight, and exaggerate fine lines. Consistent water intake supports your kidneys and helps flush out what your body doesn't need. And hydrating foods — cucumber, watermelon, spinach — absolutely count.
⚠️ What's overhyped:
Drinking extra water won't 'plump' your skin if you're already well-hydrated. And no amount of water compensates for a damaged skin barrier.
The truth is that hydration is a team effort — inside and outside.
That means drinking enough, eating water-rich foods, and using a moisturiser that actually seals that hydration in. Our Pure Aloe Vera Gel with Panthenol (Vitamin B5) does exactly that.
Save this post for the next time someone tells you to just drink more water. 💚
Sip your way to a stronger skin barrier. 🥤✨
For World Health Day, we’re celebrating the simplest way to nourish your complexion: the Anti-Inflammatory Green Glow Smoothie.
