Pilates is back. And so am I.
I first started teaching Pilates in 2004 after discovering its power through my own injury recovery.
Since then, I’ve taught in studios and gyms across the UK, run retreats, owned a Pilates studio in Mallorca, and expanded my expertise into nutrition and health coaching.
Fast forward 20+ years and life looks quite different. I’m approaching 50, raising two teenagers, walking two dogs, playing tennis and strength training regularly. My understanding of movement, health and ageing well has evolved enormously.
What all of this has taught me is that staying healthy isn’t about finding the perfect exercise. It’s about finding the right combination of movement, strength, nutrition and habits that help you stay strong, mobile and capable for life.
That’s why I still believe Pilates is one of the most valuable tools we can have.
I’m not the teacher who’ll have you chasing endless exercises or striving for perfection. I’m interested in the person in front of me: how you move, how you feel, what your body needs right now, and how we can make movement work for you.
I’m opening up just 5 spaces for personalised Pilates sessions, online across the UK or in person in Barnet.
If you’ve been thinking about starting Pilates, returning to it, or simply investing in your future health, I’d love to chat.

Proud. 💚
Karen sent me a message this morning and I have to admit, it was a lovely way to start a Monday.
When I asked her what had worked best for her, she didn’t talk about a number on the scales.
Instead, she said the best thing had been learning how to lose weight in a sustainable way.
She told me that reducing her carb intake and replacing it with vegetables and healthy protein has been “a real pleasure”. Not a diet she has to endure. Not a set of rules she can’t wait to stop following. A way of eating that genuinely makes her feel better.
And I think that’s the real success.
So many women arrive feeling frustrated, especially during perimenopause, because the things that used to work no longer seem to work. They’re often left thinking they need more willpower, when actually they need a different approach.
Karen has learned how to work with her body rather than against it.
She also said:
“I would never have made such a big step on my own without your encouragement.”
The credit belongs to Karen. She stayed open-minded, trusted the process and kept showing up for herself.
My role was simply to provide the support, guidance and reassurance along the way.
Life will always have its challenges, but the lessons she’s learned about food, health and caring for herself will stay with her long after this programme.
And if you’re reading this and wondering whether September might be the right time to focus on your own health, let Karen’s story be a reminder that sustainable change is possible.
You don’t need to do everything at once.
You just need to take the first step. 🌿

Proud.
Karen sent me a message this morning, and I have to admit, it was a pretty wonderful way to start a Monday.
What stood out wasn't the weight loss itself. It was the fact that she's learned how to make changes that feel sustainable.
She told me that reducing her carb intake and replacing it with vegetables and healthy protein has been "a real pleasure". Not a chore. Not something she has to force herself to do. Something she genuinely enjoys.
And I think that's the real win.
So many women arrive feeling frustrated with their bodies, especially during perimenopause. They've tried diets, followed conflicting advice, and often end up feeling like they're failing when in reality they've just never been shown a way of eating that works for them.
Karen's transformation isn't just about what she's lost. It's about what she's gained.
More confidence in her choices.
More trust in herself.
More understanding of what her body needs.
One thing she said really resonated with me:
"I would never have made such a big step on my own without your encouragement."
The credit belongs to Karen. She stayed open-minded, put in the work, and embraced a different way of thinking about her health. Life will always throw challenges our way, but the lessons she's learned won't disappear when the programme ends. They'll continue to support her long after the number on the scales stops being the focus.
If you're reading this and wondering whether September is the right time to prioritise your health, perhaps Karen's story is the reminder you need. You don't need to be perfect. You just need to start.
I still have a few spaces available for women looking for support through perimenopause and beyond. 💚

A little hello from moi. I’m Jodi Montlake. 👋
I thought it was time to say hello to some of the newer faces here, as well as those of you who have been following me for a while, and share a little bit about me, what I do and, most importantly, why I do it.
I’m passionate about helping people feel better, get stronger, understand their health and wellbeing, and take back control — without feeling like they have to completely change their lives to do it.
So, alongside this little update, I thought I’d reshare one of my older posts, because the message in it still sums up what I’m all about so well. ❤️
Here’s the original post…
I’m all about balance, and about helping people take back control of their health and wellbeing, but I know that trying to achieve these things, in today’s busy world, can be a challenge. That’s why I’m not about monumental changes, unrealistic targets, and excessive exercise. I’m about small steps, achievable goals, and building good habits for life.
And, crucially, I’m about support. I’m about being there when you need me, six days a week, about offering guidance when you’re travelling with work, or on holiday, or doing things that are out of the ordinary.
Together, we work on what you eat, how you move, when you sleep, and what brings you joy today, and for all your tomorrows.
Clients range from 18 to 81+ years, and I specialise in weight management, diabetes, gut issues, chronic disease, muscular strength building, injury prevention, and hormone balance.
Together, we better your health. Together, we got this!

The best meal of my holiday wasn't in a restaurant.
I was lucky enough to enjoy some wonderful food during our break, but one meal stood out above everything else.
Fresh wild-caught mackerel. 🎣
The story behind it made it even more special. While the women spent the day on a boat excursion, the men headed out on a fishing trip. Three generations took part, including grandads in their 70s and 80s, my husband celebrating his 50th birthday, and my 15-year-old son.
Watching everyone share the excitement of the day, swap stories and return with their catch was something I'll always remember.
Later that evening, the fish was simply seasoned, freshly cooked and served with salads and a few chips. No fancy ingredients. No expensive setting.
Yet it was easily the best meal of the trip.
As a health coach, I couldn't help but appreciate the nutritional benefits too.
Many of us don't get enough omega-3 fats, particularly EPA and DHA, which are important for:
✅ Brain health
✅ Heart health
✅ Maintaining healthy triglyceride levels
Some of the best sources include smaller oily fish such as:
🐟 Mackerel
🐟 Sardines
🐟 Anchovies
They are often lower in environmental toxins and are generally a more sustainable choice.
But what made this meal exceptional wasn't the omega-3 content.
It was the connection.
The shared experience. The teamwork. The conversations. The memories being made across three generations.
It reminded me that good health isn't only about what is on our plate. It's also about the people we share it with.
💭 I'd love to hear from you. What's the most memorable meal you've ever had and what made it special?
