From the very beginning, Star Seed and ASC - Earth Jewellery have been connected through a shared ethos of conservation, regeneration and preservation.
Our first formulations came to life in Kenya, with our dear friend Jess Mouse of ASC part of the story from the start.
Years later, our worlds continue to overlap. Skin, plants, precious materials and the landscapes they come from.

I’ve been sitting on this conversation for far too long.
We recorded this podcast episode late last year, and listening back to it now, there are so many little pieces I still want to share.
This was one of them.
For me, sustainability has never been about doing one visibly “good” thing while ignoring everything happening behind it. That would be greenwashing.
It’s about looking at the whole picture. What are we making? What is it made from? Where did those ingredients come from? How was it grown? What happens to the packaging? What are we asking people to put on their skin every day?
None of us will ever do everything perfectly. We certainly don’t. But I think there is a huge difference between genuinely trying to build something better in every department of your business, and using one good initiative to distract from everything else.
That distinction matters.
A little extract from my conversation with Rozz Sullivan on Energy Lab earlier this year. There is so much more from this conversation that I’m going to start sharing again.
What does genuinely responsible business look like to you?
Love, Emilie

A little autumn gift from us.
For today only, we’re increasing our subscription saving from 15% to 20% on our two complete skincare rituals.
If you’ve been thinking about settling into a simpler routine for autumn, or already know these are the formulas your skin loves, this is a lovely moment to stock your bathroom for the months ahead.
The Core Ritual comes with a Mini Mushroom, and the Ritual Collection with a Discovery Kit, our little gift to you.
All three of our core formulas also just received Best Buy 2026 at The Green Parent Natural Beauty Awards, which makes this feel like rather good timing.
Use AUTUMN20 when subscribing to either collection.
Ends midnight tonight, 30 September.
Nature, undiluted.

Ibiza, you have been a dream. Benirrás Beach, swimming by the rocks, sunsets, a cracking wedding and the best company with Tony Pepperoni. We’ll be back before you know it ♥️
Soon it will be time to hibernate in London, getting cosy before the baby arrives.
But how wonderful it was to get the dancing legs out and swing them around to Ed’s funky tunes.
Thank you to Lola, Woody and everyone who made it happen and made it so special # # #

The more I’ve learned about skin, the less I’ve wanted to interfere with it.
Training as a holistic facialist really changed the way I treat my own skin. I realised I had spent years doing many of the things we’re all told are simply part of a “good” skincare routine. Cleansing and cleansing again, exfoliating frequently, being slightly terrified of putting oils on my face, always feeling like I should be doing more.
Now I do much less.
I cleanse gently, sometimes only once a day. My inflammatory input is very low at the moment, being pregnant and avoiding alcohol, fried fast foods etc. I exfoliate only when my skin actually needs it. This could be once every 2 weeks on the body and once a month on the face.
I love oils. And probably the biggest change is that I pay much more attention to how my skin feels on any given day.
Skin is incredibly intelligent. It has its own barrier, microbiome and natural processes for protecting and renewing itself. The more I’ve understood that, the more interested I’ve become in supporting those systems rather than constantly trying to correct them.
It’s inevitably shaped the way I formulate for Star Seed too. Concentrated, waterless formulas, elegant textures, and products designed to nourish and support the skin rather than overwhelm it.
My skin is much happier for it. And I think I’ve become much better at actually listening to it.
Sometimes doing less really is the answer. Trust your own skin and its ability to heal.
Which of these four have you stopped doing?

One of the biggest misconceptions about dry skin is that it simply needs more moisturiser.
Often, what dry or sensitised skin is asking for is less disruption of the skin barrier and skin microbiome.
Fewer ingredients, less scrubbing, foaming and stripping. More support for the skin’s own barrier and natural lipid structure.
It’s one of the principles that shaped our multi-Award winning waterless Star Seed products from the very beginning.
Skin doesn’t always need more. Sometimes it needs us to interfere less.
Forest Cream is designed for this exact purpose. With East African botanicals like Baobab, Moringa, Neem and Shea this soft silky day cream will quench the thirst of your dry skin.

Last Wednesday we opened the doors of Ladbroke Hall to share the next chapter of Star Seed.
Upstairs in the boardroom, Ed and I told our story to a room of people who have built, backed and championed brands we deeply admire, including Linda Tipping (ex-L’Oréal), Lucy Johnson (founder of Lovebrook & Green) and Juriaan from FemCap. We demonstrated the ritual, answered every question (and there were brilliant ones), then headed down to the Speakeasy for sparkles and canapés.
A year of preparation led to that evening, and standing in front of that room, we felt ready.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to you, our community, who got us here. More soon.
Lots of love, Emilie & Ed

The Cotswolds has quietly become our second home.
Most of that is Chloe. She has welcomed us into this beautiful and intimate community.
So it means a lot to be coming back, this time for an afternoon together.
We will start with a grounding meditation, then move into the workshop: gua sha, facial cupping, simple self-massage. How to release the jaw, the face, the neck.
How to support skin as it ages, naturally. A ritual small enough that you’ll actually keep doing it at home.
Chloe will close with sound healing.
A few tickets left - link in bio.
If you’ve been meaning to visit Chloe’s new studio, or come say hi to us, this is the one.
