Self care isn’t selfish.

It’s easy to treat rest as something we have to earn, after the work is finished, the messages are answered and everyone else has been looked after.

But rest is part of health. A quiet acupuncture session can create a little space to breathe, soften and allow the nervous system to settle.

This is what rest looks like. You’re allowed to slow down.

We offer personalised acupuncture support in Wandsworth, Marylebone and Notting Hill.

What helps you make time for yourself?

Blood is not just iron.

In Chinese medicine, “Blood” is a broader picture of nourishment, circulation and vitality. Iron remains essential to biological health, but this traditional framework also asks a gentler question: how well is the body digesting, transforming and using what it receives?

That is why the process often begins with digestion.

A simple place to start:
• Choose warm, cooked meals when digestion feels delicate
• Include eggs, lentils, beetroot, dark leafy greens and black sesame
• Add nourishing foods such as pear, tofu and cooked vegetables
• Support deeper reserves with beans, walnuts, seeds and slow-cooked dishes
• Eat slowly and create a little quiet around meals

These foods can be part of a nourishing pattern, but they are not a substitute for investigating deficiency. Ongoing fatigue, breathlessness, dizziness or heavy menstrual bleeding should always be discussed with your GP. You may need appropriate blood tests and medical support.

Which food from the list already feels like a natural fit for you?

Pregnancy preparation can begin before the first positive test.

I often think of the 90 days before conception as “Trimester Zero”. Not a period of perfection, but a gentle window to listen to the body and create supportive conditions for what comes next.

This may include:

• Becoming familiar with your cycle, including cervical mucus, energy and patterns of change
• Calming a nervous system that has been running in high gear
• Supporting pelvic circulation through movement, warmth and appropriate hands-on care
• Nourishing the body consistently, rather than chasing quick fixes
• Protecting sleep and creating space for rest
• Considering the wider picture of egg health, hormones, digestion and emotional wellbeing

The aim is not to add another list of demands. It is to work with your biology, slowly and attentively.

Preconception care is also recognised by the NHS as an important part of preparing for pregnancy. Small, steady changes can help you feel more connected to your body before conception begins.

If you could offer your body one supportive ritual during these 90 days, what would it be? 🌿

The landscape of healthcare is softening. A quiet transition is taking place where clinical science meets the steady hand of traditional wisdom. In Cornwall, an NHS-funded pilot involving the Sunrise Appeal and The Cove Macmillan Support Centre has documented a significant shift in patient care.

More than 80 patients navigating cancer have experienced acupuncture as part of their integrated journey. With over 150 referrals, the focus remains on the physical and emotional weight of treatment. Symptoms like hot flushes, fatigue, and anxiety are addressed with clinical precision and a gentle touch.

This pilot validates the body’s capacity to recalibrate. Acupuncture is moving from the periphery into the heart of the clinical journey, offering a soft landing for those seeking restoration. When the nervous system is allowed to exhale, healing becomes the priority. Evidence-based care is evolving to embrace the whole person, acknowledging that recovery requires both scientific excellence and a grounded approach to wellbeing.

Space is held for those ready to begin.

Fertility has long been framed as a woman’s journey, yet the biological reality is shared equally. Research shows that male factor infertility accounts for 30 to 50% of conception challenges. It is the silent half of the fertility room. Often, the focus remains on one partner, leaving men without the same level of support or investigation.

Acupuncture offers a bridge between modern physiology and restorative care. By modulating the nervous system and reducing oxidative stress, it helps create the optimal environment for s***m health. A study published in 'Fertility and Sterility' highlighted that regular acupuncture can significantly improve s***m concentration and motility by enhancing local blood flow and balancing biochemical responses.

Ritual for restoration: Keep cool. Avoid high-heat environments like saunas, as s***m production requires a lower temperature. Nourish with zinc. Integrate pumpkin seeds or oysters into a weekly routine to support healthy morphology. Box breathing. Five minutes a day of rhythmic breathing signals safety to the nervous system, lowering cortisol.

The path to balance is open.

If it is good enough for a 24-time Grand Slam champion 🎾

has been open about incorporating acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine into his recovery and performance routine for years. As he put it:

"Chinese traditional medicine herbs on acupuncture needles. Not always pleasant but effective."

He has also spoken about the ancient wisdom behind it:

"Chinese medicine goes over 5,000 years old. There are different ways of healing, of keeping your body fit, keeping your mind and soul aligned."

From Wimbledon to Roland Garros, elite performance relies on nervous system regulation, improved circulation, and cellular recovery. The same principles apply whether you're navigating daily stress, hormonal balance, or fertility support.

Acupuncture works with the body's innate intelligence. Whether you're chasing a title or simply chasing a good night's sleep, the foundation is the same: creating an internal environment where healing can happen.

Living with endometriosis often feels like being at war with your own biology. It is an oestrogen-driven, inflammatory condition that can leave the immune system in a state of constant high alert. The body becomes a crowded room where the volume of pain is perpetually turned up.

Acupuncture serves as a gentle invitation for the nervous system to exhale. By stimulating specific points, it is possible to encourage blood to flow more freely through the pelvic floor, delivering oxygen and clearing stagnant inflammatory markers. Research in the Journal of Pain Research (2017) indicates that this practice helps modulate the overactive immune response, effectively softening the physical and emotional burden of the condition.

When the body feels safe, it can begin to recalibrate. Rather than fighting the cycle, the focus shifts toward nourishment and restoration of cellular energy. It is a bridge between scientific research and traditional wisdom, providing a soft landing for those navigating the complexities of hormonal health.

How does your body typically communicate its need for rest during your cycle?

The conversation around Polycystic O***y Syndrome is shifting. Within the medical community, there is a growing debate about renaming the condition to PMOS, or Primary Metabolic Syndrome. This shift reflects a deeper understanding that what manifests in the ovaries often begins with the metabolism. It is a recognition that the body is an interconnected system, where insulin sensitivity and hormonal balance are inextricably linked.

When the nervous system is in high gear, the delicate dialogue between the metabolic and endocrine systems can become strained. Acupuncture acts as a quiet recalibration for this internal communication. By targeting specific pathways, research in the journal Frontiers in Endocrinology indicates that acupuncture can improve insulin sensitivity and support the regulation of reproductive hormones, offering a path toward softening symptoms from the inside out.

It is about working with your biology. By encouraging neuro-regulation, the body finds the safety it needs to restore its own rhythm. This is more than symptom management, it is a return to balance.

The "fibremaxxing" movement highlights a vital truth. the deep link between nutrition and the mind. While 30g of daily fibre is a clinical baseline, its true power lies in supporting the gut-brain axis.

The microbiome acts as a biological factory, converting plant fibres into short-chain fatty acids that regulate neurotransmitters. Research in The Lancet shows high-fibre intake is linked to lower levels of inflammation, often the root of cognitive and emotional fatigue.

To nourish your nervous system from within, try these gentle rituals:
Add chia or flax seeds to your morning porridge to anchor your day. Introduce thirty different plant varieties each week to diversify your inner landscape. Increase intake slowly. A gradual approach avoids overwhelming the system.

When the gut is balanced, the mind returns to a state of quiet authority. This personalised harmony is central to our philosophy, much like the precision of Metabolic Balance®.
