*IRON OKRA WATER!*
Last week at Shepherd's Bush was truly special with our sip with nature sessions. Not just restricted to tea samples, visitors also got a taste of how to supercharge Okra water with bioactive compounds from other plants to expand its scope of wellbeing functions!
The winner by a very clear margin was Okra with the world renown Susumber (Jamaica) or Abedru (Ghana) aka Turkey Berry (mind you it contains no turkey, just a green berry!) Not surprising it came out tops due to how fast acting the iron content of this powerful berry is; felt within minutes of ingestion!
Whether its in the mental perkiness or the slight sweating as blood circulation is boosted or the tingles that runs through the body that feel like electromagnetic currents from friction contact.
We have our last day of trading this Thursday the 30th of July, from 12 to 6pm and will close off with a last batch of the 'iron okra water', only between 12.30 to 2.30pm! So do note the times and arrive accordingly if you're seeking a taste!
If you can't make it physically, you can pick up your own pack of Turkey Berry at the link below (use CODE LOVE10 for 10% discount) and email us for the very simple recipe.
Then experience why its been such a renown global heritage food!

WHY WILDCRAFT?!
Why does it matter that we choose to wildcraft our teas, isn't organic better we are often asked?
Well not really as the label 'organic' usually pertains to the conditions of the soil in which plants are grown, they are tested to be free of chemicals from fertilisers, pesticides or insecticides and such.
With wildcrafting, we source the plants directly from the bush. Our philosophy is simple; if a plant or tree can grow to its fullest potential without the assistance of fertilisers and other man-made assistance, then it must be fully powered by nature and highly potent to have overcome all the natural challenges that could have prevented its growth!
The lands off which they are obtained are thickets and forests, far from residential areas and other human activities. They are the best offerings of Nature.
Our current teas that are wildcrafted include:
Moringa - Natural Multivitamin with over 120 different nutritional bioactive compounds identified so far.
Dandelion - King of iron, supporter of kidney & liver health, immune and urinary tract infections.
Mango - Digestive health, fat expeller and neurological supporter.
Guava - Natural Multivitamin, respiratory & digetsive health and regulation of sugar and blood glucose.
Papaya - Cardiovascular superpower and evidenced anti-tumour and cytotoxic properties.
Soursop - Famous for cytotoxic properties, now used in cervical cancer medication, great for the immune, high-blood pressure and may aid relaxation for deep sleep.
Neem - The ultimate detoxifier for liver, kidney and blood and most comprehensive anti-fungal agent documented so far, classified by the US Department of Science as 'the tree for solving global problems'
Note: Neem is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.

A WORLD FAVOURITE
Whilst its seed oil is unknown to many, its flowers are a worldwide favourite for cardiovascular health across continents and countries - from Albania to Cameroun!
The Hibiscus flower is an ancient and modern favourite, loved for its tarty taste as well as medicinal benefits that supports cardiovascular and digestive health.
Evidenced to naturally regulate cholesterol and lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, its high polyphenol and anthocyanin content is noted for boosting the functioning of fat-digesting enzymes so fat absorption is reduced, with a positive effect for weight management.

*IRON-CLAD SUPPLEMENT!*
What makes such a tiny berry a functional food favourite?
Because across the world, it has demonstrated varied use(s) that makes it ideal for multi-functional use.
In Ghana postpartum mothers with heavy blood loss are rejuvenated in days when cooked in a soup, another reason why it remains a favourite for those with anaemia and heavy me**es.
Its high phyto-iron content is also the reason it is a prized ingredient in vitality and immune-boosting tonics Caribbean, whilst in South and East-Asia, its powerful effects on regulating digestive inflammations has been noted to have a positive knock-on effect for managing blood glucose and cholesterol levels, also making it an ideal digestive aid.
Now it's clear why Abedru (Ghana), Susumber (Jamaica) and Bhankatiya (India) is a global favourite!
