Something I’ve learnt as I’ve matured in my career is that sometimes, you have to let clients down.

What I mean by that is being confident enough to say no when I know their hair simply cannot take another lift — and explaining why.

As a young stylist, I always felt bad telling clients that something wasn’t achievable. I felt like I was letting them down, or that somehow I wasn’t good enough because I couldn’t create the result they wanted.

But as I’ve grown and gained more experience, I’ve realised that sometimes it has nothing to do with my ability as a stylist. It’s science.

Hair has limits. We can’t go against the integrity of the hair just to achieve a certain colour.

Sometimes the best thing I can do for my client is say, “No, we can’t do that today,” and explain what we can do instead.

Protecting the hair will always be more important than chasing a result that simply isn’t possible.

And honestly, learning to say no has been one of the biggest signs of growth in my career. 🤍

Kinda chic to be in an industry where there are SO many different options ✨

Own your own salon.
Be self-employed.
Work in TV.
Work on shows.
Work in a salon.
Work out of a salon.
Teach.
Work abroad… still working on that one 👀✈️

After exploring so many different paths and dabbling in a bit of everything, I don’t know why we ever thought owning a salon was the only option 🤷‍♀️

There’s no one way to do hairdressing — and that’s the beauty of it.

Hairdressing is for the free-spirited.
Do as you like, make it your own… just don’t ever stop learning. ✂️✨
