Massage should hurt to work.” Actually true or false? Deep tissue work can be intense, but pain isn’t the marker of effectiveness — tension release is. If a session leaves you wincing for days, that’s not “it’s working,” that’s overdone.
Good pressure is firm, communicative, and leaves you feeling looser, not bruised.

Classical ballet, contemporary, musical theatre, commercial, street — every style asks something different of the body.

Years of treating dancers across all of them has shown me where each one tends to hold strain, and how to treat it.

Different demands, same principle: bodies under regular load need regular, informed care.

Based at Pineapple Dance Studios, Covent Garden.

Hoarse after a gig, a long shift teaching, or a night of talking over the noise? That tightness usually sits around the larynx, jaw and neck — not just the voice itself.

Vocal massage works through the whole area: jaw, neck, shoulders and upper back, releasing the tension that builds up around how you use your voice.

If your voice runs out before your evening does, this one’s worth booking.

It’s Global Running Day 🏃‍♂️

Whether you’re a professional athlete or a fun runner, here are just a few ways that regular sports massage can benefit your training -

• Massage therapists can help you understand your own body, its limits and helping you prevent injury. Although many people say they would never run a marathon again straight after the race, a week later the pain is forgotten and we can start working together for the next goal.

• Massage can help reduce the swelling often seen after enduring exercise. Inflammation of the muscles is very common and a recovery massage can reduce swelling by getting rid of waste build-up.

• Massage promotes healing to the soft tissues and extends the overall life of your sporting career.

• Regular massage after running will help with any over-use injuries such as ITB pain (runner’s knee) or plantar fasciitis. These conditions, and others, can be assessed by your therapist and a plan for recovery made.

• Get in touch and have a chat about making massage part of your training regime

Marathon season is upon us once again, the roads and parks for the last few months have been full of people training hard for one of the longest races of their lives.

Did you know that regular sports massage can give your training a boost? It is not only used by runners with injuries.
Regular massage as part of your training schedule can help prevent injury and repair damaged muscle tissue as well as stretching muscles and improving elasticity.
Massage can also reduce any anxiety which could be hampering your training.

I work with many experienced long distance runners and also those that are training for their first marathon.
Together we create a program of treatments specifically tailored to their training schedule to enhance performance and aid recovery.

Contact me if you would like to discuss a treatment plan for your next event, so that you are at your peak performance on the day!

Good luck to everyone running this Sunday!
