June is Acne Awareness Month 💙

Acne was something I struggled with throughout my teens and early adult years. My skin would often flare during stressful periods and around my cycle. Even now, I still get the occasional breakout.

But for me, the worst part wasn’t always the acne itself.

It was what was left behind.

The hyperpigmentation. The marks that seemed to hang around long after the painful spots had settled. The acne scars from convincing myself that picking “just this one” would somehow make it disappear faster (spoiler: it never did).

If you have Black or South Asian skin, you’ll probably know exactly what I mean. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can sometimes last far longer than the breakout itself.

I’m never quick to introduce a new treatment at AesthetiCare. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I’m cautious. New treatments don’t come into clinic because they’re trending. They come in because they’re safe, evidence-based, and because I’ve seen the results for myself.

That’s exactly why we’re launching Dermapen microneedling.

My lovely friend Monica ( ) knows how reluctant I am to trust new devices, so she actually treated me herself. The treatment wouldn’t be coming into clinic if I hadn’t seen genuine improvements in my own skin.

My skin texture improved. My post-acne marks faded faster. My acne scars softened. Even the old chickenpox scars started to look better.
