Everyone stretches their hamstrings.
Almost nobody asks why they’re tight in the first place.
Your hamstrings are part of one long chain that runs from the bottom of your foot, through your calf, up the back of your leg and into your pelvis.
When something in that chain stops doing its job, the hamstring often picks up the slack.
And when the hamstring is bracing, your hip can’t move freely.
When your hip can’t move freely, your lower back fills the gap. Every step. Every twist. Every time you stand up from a chair.
That’s one way a tight hamstring quietly becomes a lower back problem.
The tightness isn’t the fault. It’s your body deciding it needs the tension.
Find the reason and it can let go. Keep yanking on it and it stays tight, and you’re stuck doing the same stretches forever.
It’s like pulling one end of a rope that’s snagged in the middle. Nothing gives.
We find where in the chain the load is getting stuck, sometimes the ankle, sometimes the hip, sometimes the way you walk, and work from there. When the right areas start contributing again, the hamstring stops having to hold on so hard.
And your lower back finally gets some help.
