Deadforest Paintings

Here's my completed pencil colour drawing of the young mammoth. 🦣.

Here's a new painting I completed last week.

I painted the background using yellow, yellow green and emerald green streaks. Originally, it was meant to be more yellow than green but I got a bit too carried away.

Next the dark streaks on the right corner and left hand side was supposed to be a burnt out tree but it went wrong. So, I faded it by painting green and yellow over it. Then added some streaks over creating burnt leaves instead.

Then, I went onto painting the ground which was completely unplanned. I started with the ground first using black paint and then decided to add grass, fire and some broken and cracked dinosaur eggs. The eggs were originally going to stay green but I felt it needed more colours, especially where light and dark were concerned.

Next, I painted a meteor shower and didn't really know where to begin. So, I painted some burnt twigs, meteors in black, white and yellow streaks with the largest one on fire up close. The one in the middle right hand side is pterodactyl burnt to a crisp and it was completely accidental but effective.

I decided to add some brontosaurs as they were the easiest to draw. First, I painted the co**se on the bottom of the painting in between the eggs, painted an open bloody wound on the young dinosaur, exposing its bones. I've never painted wounds and injuries especially in this much detail.

Lastly, I added the last two wounded brontosaurs by mixing the colours into dark brown while keeping green and red colours visible on them to reflect the light. Plus, the painting the plates on their backs. I painted beady eyes on them as I wasn't looking to make them look realistic. I didn't feel they needed mouths.

I've always wanted to paint a meteor shower and especially dinosaurs. This was surprisingly easy to paint despite having trouble with details.

Despite the darkness of this piece, I enjoyed painting this piece and learnt to how to get better at adding detail without overthinking it.

Here's a piece I completed a week ago of my Voidwalker from World of Warcraft.

I drew the outline of it on a black canvas board and forgot to paint the background. Added the background and coloured it in using pencil colours. I added it's muscles, the unstable void energy under it but didn't worry too much about the extra details of it's bracers.

The quotes around are what it's says when it's summoned. My Voidwalker is called Sarmon.

Painting this was fun and fairly straightforward. I used purple, blue, purple, black and yellow Derwent pencil colours, acrylic paint pen and blue, purple and white acrylic paints.
