Last week, we gathered for breakfast in the company of something rather special.

The paintings of Mary West lined the walls around us, their layered, luminous landscapes a quiet reminder of why we do what we do. It felt like exactly the right way to mark Earth Day: surrounded by art that is, at its heart, a celebration of the natural world. Mary has a new show opening at The Chancery Rosewood this May, and we were lucky enough to spend a morning with her before the world catches on.

Winter like a Dane

This can be a challenging time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. To ease the season by, I want to share a blog post on the lessons I have learned from wintering in Denmark: Wellness is not framed as self-optimisation. There is little emphasis on winter as a moment for personal transformation or heroic routines. Instead, Danes practise maintenance wellbeing: eating regularly, sleeping consistently, seeing other people often enough, continuing a routine of outdoor swimming and exercise generally. So take it easy and focus on looking after yourself.
