Period education in schools just got a legal upgrade.
From this September, every school in England must teach menstrual health as part of the new RSHE curriculum. Primary pupils will learn the facts before their first period. Secondary pupils will learn about PMS, heavy bleeding. endometriosis, PCOS and when to seek help.
Why does this matter? Because too many girls are told to suck it up. Because diagnosis for conditions like endometriosis can take the best part of a decade. And because shame still keeps girls silent.
At WUKA, we didn’t wait for the law to change. Our free WUKA Talks lesson covers body parts, hormones, emotions and period products, delivered in schools by trained educators. Nearly 30 schools in Hertfordshire have already had one. Our goal? 300 schools.
Teacher, parent or governor? DM us to book your school’s free lesson.🩸
We hit the streets of London to ask men if they actually know what a period is.
