💅 The secret to long-lasting nails isn't the product… it's the prep.

One of the biggest mistakes I see nail technicians make is rushing their nail preparation. Even the best gel, acrylic or BIAB won't perform properly if the natural nail hasn't been prepared correctly.

My prep routine is one I've refined over years of working in the industry, teaching students and troubleshooting lifting problems.

✨ I always: ✔️ Apply cuticle remover gel to soften non-living tissue. ✔️ Use a manual cuticle pusher to gently remove ALL non-living cuticle from the entire nail plate and from underneath the proximal nail fold. ✔️ Refine the nail with my favourite BrillBird 180 Soft File. The extra-refined grit and soft edges allow me to work incredibly close to the skin without causing damage to the natural nail. ✔️ Finish with BrillBird Scrub to remove every trace of dust, oils and contaminants and maximise adhesion before applying any nail system.
