5 signs your skincare isn’t working for your skin.

1. Redness
Persistent redness after applying a product isn’t normal. It’s your skin telling you something is aggravating it.

2. Breakouts
New & repeated breakouts after introducing a product are a sign your skin is reacting, not purging. Know the difference.

3. Peeling
Some gentle flaking during an active treatment can be expected. Consistent peeling is not, it means your barrier is compromised.

4. Tightness
Skin should never feel tight after cleansing or moisturising. Tightness means moisture is being stripped, not supported.

5. Stinging or burning
A brief tingle is one thing. Stinging or burning means a product is not suitable for your skin - full stop.

If your skin is showing any of these signs, stop. Simplify your routine. Let your skin settle. reset & restore it for one month then gently reintroduce.

The right skincare should never hurt. It should make your skin feel calm, comfortable and looked after. Let’s not adapt the ‘ no pain no gain’ attitude in skin care too.

A little glimpse of summer in France 🇫🇷☀️

Time away for me is always about slowing things down. Long walks, proper time with family, eating what’s fresh and in season (the tomatoes 🤌🏼) and giving my brain a bit of space from the usual pace of life.

I talk a lot about skin health being holistic, and holidays are a lovely reminder of that. Good food, movement, sleep, fresh air, connection and a little less stress all matter.

And skincare? I keep that simple too. Cleanse, hydrate, protect. Your skin doesn’t need a 10-step routine just because you’ve packed a suitcase 🤍

When I created Louise Thomas Skin Care, it was never about creating “just another skincare brand.”

It was about helping women understand their skin.

After 30 years of working with clients, I realised that so many women were being overwhelmed by trends, influenced by marketing and spending money on products they didn’t need.

I wanted to do things differently.

To simplify skincare. To explain the science. To give women the confidence to make informed decisions based on evidence, not hype.

Because healthy skin isn’t about perfection.

It’s about understanding how your skin functions, supporting it well and making choices that will benefit it for years to come.

That’s the vision behind everything we do.

Not just creating products, but helping women take control of their skin health for life.

Jumping on the 5 things trend… skin health therapist edition 💫

If I were choosing where to invest for healthier skin, these are the five things I’d prioritise every time.

Because good skin health isn’t just about buying more skincare. It’s about understanding your skin, supporting your body and choosing products and treatments that are right for you.

Which one would you add to the list? 🤍

If there’s one thing I’d encourage anyone to do before buying skincare, it’s this...

Understand your skin type.

Understanding your skin type, identifying what your skin truly needs and having a thorough skin health assessment from an expert will save you time, money and frustration in the long run.

I see so many people using products because they’re trending, highly reviewed or recommended by someone with completely different skin concerns. What works beautifully for one person may not be right for another.

The best skincare routine isn’t the trendiest or the most expensive. It’s the one that’s been chosen with your skin in mind ✨

We often talk about age as though it’s the biggest predictor of how our skin will look.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It isn’t.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve treated clients of the same age with completely different skin health because chronological age is only one small part of the picture.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The quality of your skin is influenced by so much more, including your hormones, nutrition, muscle mass, inflammation, sleep, sun exposure and your overall metabolic health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is why I never believe in chasing younger-looking skin.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, I focus on supporting healthier tissue.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When skin is functioning well, it has better resilience, repair, hydration and structure. Over time, that often translates into skin that naturally looks brighter, stronger and more youthful.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Healthy skin has never been about turning back the clock. It’s about giving your skin the support it needs to age as well as it possibly can.

Most people think of skin as something we see.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In reality, it’s the largest organ in the human body and one of the hardest working.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your skin acts as a protective barrier, helps regulate body temperature, prevents water loss, supports vitamin D production and plays an important role in your immune system. It’s constantly working to keep your body healthy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When skin health declines, the impact isn’t always just cosmetic. A compromised skin barrier can lead to increased sensitivity, irritation, inflammation and slower repair.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Healthy skin isn’t about striving for perfection. It’s about supporting your skin so it can function at its very best.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because healthy skin is about so much more than how it looks.
