Let's talk complications 💉
Aesthetics procedures like all procedures come with some degree of risk. These can include allergic reactions, vascular occlusions, infection/swelling, bruising/redness and more.

Bruising, swelling and redness are common side effects and can be treated easily with over the counter medications such as paracetamol and ibruprofen. Often arnica cream and ice can help to reduce bruising and swelling.

Following aftercare advise is vital to reduce the risk of complications such as infection as many of the recommendations are there to reduce the introduction and spread of bacteria.

More serious complications such as anaphylaxis (allergic reactions) and vascular occlusion are far less common but still a risk. Most of the time these side effects cannot be prevented although I have many precaution in place to reduce the risk. As with many complications early detection is the key to avoiding long term issues. After treatments I will check capillary refil and other signs of vascular occlusion. In the case of an emergency I stock emergency medications including adrenaline which I can administer if needed.

As a healthcare professional managing side effects of treatments is something that I regularly encounter in my NHS job. 👩🏻‍⚕️ This has helped me to feel confident in identifying and treating complications should they arise. If you have any concerns post treatment please contact your practitioner for follow up care.

My lovely patient today decided she wanted a bit more definition in her top lip.👄 I added 0.5mls of filler mostly to the top lip to help give a more defined and lifted look. Filler does not have to be done all at once and I often better built up slowly to give the natural results desired 💉👩🏻‍⚕️
