I’ve realised I’ve been stressing about getting videos out there on time.. for the made up schedule I’ve made in my head. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I MUST post at 7:30pm. That’s not hard.. surely?

I’m a fully booked waxer, driving 25 minutes to and from the studio and I’m there sometimes up to 11 hour days to make up for the short days I have to do due to no childcare, I have 1 day every fortnight child and work free, I parent a non-verbal Autistic child alone in a home I’m also DIY renovating.. I could go on.

This is the little boy I’m doing this all for. The child I could have only ever dreamed of. He loves his mama and he’s the happiest little bean. He doesn’t ask for much but sometimes.. he’s on me like velcro and I lap it the f**k up. To once be told he wouldn’t speak to me, give me eye contact, nor want affection, I’m sure you can imagine how much his voice and his affection means to me.

Editing videos is unfortunately that one thing on my to-do list that isn’t a MUST. I already over-achieved what I was trying to do with these videos. They were to gain enough clientele to justify paying room rent in the studio after working from home for so many years. I am SO grateful for the dedication I had at the start, posting twice a day without fail, because it done wonders for my business. I’m even more grateful for the people following along, interacting with my videos and a lot of you booking in! But social media doesn’t need to be my second job, not any more.

I’m posting this to keep myself in check. That internal schedule of mine is NOT manageable. tried to tell me herself, but my internal dialogue was louder than anything and anyone. Her voice has been digging at me slowly and here I am. (Grateful for you 🫶🏼)

If any of you were wondering, this is my go-to position for the butt strip.

I used to have my clients lay on their front and hold a cheek for me but I soon realised that my clients hands were either slipping from their sweat that they were laid in (or remnants of the pre-wax oil), their shoulders/backs were hurting or they just weren’t able to hold it open enough for me without their cheeks getting slightly stuck together.

This position still allows you to be face to face with me, is made a little more physically comfortable with the bolster and still gives me access to the area I need to wax.

My intimate waxes always include the butt strip, waxed with hot wax. This is of course optional- I do have some clients who which for this to be left out.

It’s a joke, but it’s also not.

It’s a joke because I have friends who have always appreciated me regardless of what I can do for them, what I can give them and how often I manage to see them.

It’s not a joke because I’ve also been the person who people only hold onto until I’m no longer of use to them.

If I love you, no matter the time of day or night, you know you can always rely on me. For quite literally anything. To rant, for some words of wisdom, to calm you, to hype you up, to help you, to stop you, to motivate you, with no judgment. I will pick you up when you’re down, I’ll bring goodies, I’ll put thought and care into everything I do. I’m a natural fixer, I have a need to do these things.

Being the way you are is just normal to you, nothing special. But putting yourself online for the entire world to see can be so special. All of a sudden, you see strangers appreciating who you are by watching, commenting, messaging and then turning up to an appointment to put themselves in a very vulnerable position and feeling safe to do so?! That’s crazy.

I feel blessed to have you guys confide in me, to trust me and to support my business.

✨ MISCONCEPTIONS OF A WAXER ✨

I’d really love for the assumptions to stop. I would genuinely hype up a person rocking their hair just as much as I do for my clients who are having it removed. I genuinely don’t give a cockadoodledoo what you do with your body, as long as you’re happy 😅

✨ NO MORE TABOO ✨

Yes, I may be a potty mouth. Yes, I may be “too open” sometimes but I’m confident in this..

Some generations were taught that lots of things that are completely normal, were not to be spoken of.

The menopause, s*x, men crying, mental health, p***c hair.. the list goes on.

In turn, women were made to suffer because no one spoke of their experiences and therefore, they had no one to make them understand everything that was happening within them. Internally AND externally.

In turn, girls would get pregnant and not tell their parents and would try to induce abortion. Girls/ women would have s*x that never felt good because they didn’t know what to expect and boys/men wouldn’t even know where to start, to make sure it does.

The male su***de rate. Violent outbursts. Need I say more?

If we can just change one thing, it’s to remove the taboo. Stop making our children and everyone around us feel as if they can’t talk to us. A little bit of knowledge for the appropriate age, can go a really long way. I understand that everyone needs to make mistakes to learn from, but some could quite easily be avoided when there are other parties involved.

If I could put money on something I can assure I will see every single day at work, it’s people talking about themselves in a way that would never enter my thoughts.

I’m guilty of it too, worrying about what others think. I know we all are. But the realisation of witnessing this when it’s something I would have never seen in the same way, tells me that I can wear this comfy outfit, regardless of the loose skin on my arms showing. Regardless of the tummy you can see.

No one ever said “I love Sarah because she’s got the perfect figure” or “Jake is my best friend because he’s got the best skin I’ve ever seen” or “I spend all the free time I have with Lucy because she’s got great teeth”.

I understand that we have insecurities sometimes that others can’t see and it’s not about them seeing.. it’s about how we feel about ourselves. But someone loves you regardless, so try their way.. loving you the way THEY do.

I think we all need to realise that we have what we have. Everybody is different. We don’t need to be like another person and it’s beautiful that we’re all unique.

* Before someone says it, I was actually waxing in between these clips. The chat just turned to “how was that strip” and “please hold your knickers about here” when I was removing strips so it was clipped out 🤣 *

Without MaeMae, I wouldn’t be half as capable, helping these little beauties feel a little more like their best 🥹 the grip on this wax really stops the need to go over and over the same area! (Unless my client hasn’t exfoliated🤪)
