One tape application… but two different styles of tape, used very intentionally

I love combining Root Illusion + Flat Line tapes within the same application because although they’re both tapes, they each bring something slightly different to the finished result.

Around the areas where visibility can be more of a concern, I use Root Illusion.

The root detail mimics the appearance of natural hair growing from the scalp, helping the tape blend beautifully into the client’s own hair and giving me that extra level of camouflage exactly where I need it.

Then, as I move into the interior of the application, I switch to Flat Line tapes.

Here visibility isn’t my biggest concern I want to create bulk, density and security, while keeping the application quick and efficient.

It’s not about one being better than the other.

It’s about understanding where each style of tape works best and combining them to create the most seamless result.

There’s nothing like prepping a bride for her wedding day, and this appointment was all about perfecting every last detail for

We started with the colour refresh. Alex’s last appointment was essentially our trial run we tested, adjusted, and landed on the perfect formula together. This time it was simply rinse and repeat, refreshing that exact template so she walks down the aisle with the most flawless, camera-ready colour.

Then came brand new, fresh extensions in 3 shades each one placed strategically to enhance the natural tones and colours throughout, adding depth where we wanted it and dimension where it needed to pop. No two sections are the same, because bridal hair should look effortlessly full and rich from every angle

It’s so easy to think tape-ins are just a case of section, stick and move on but the placement, the colours can make such a difference to the finished result.

For this application of tape extensions, I’ve kept my sections really clean and worked my way up from the nape, but one of the biggest things I’m conscious of is where I’m placing them around the hairline.

I always leave around two finger widths from the hairline because I want those tapes to sit completely flat and disappear into the natural hair.

And then we’ve got the colour

I love using a lighter piece around the face to bring that brightness forward, but keeping a slightly more rooted/darker tone underneath gives everything a bit more depth and stops it looking too bold.

It’s basically just using the extensions to enhance what’s already there rather than making them look like extensions.

Working on this raw Slavic hair and showing you how adding in some darker pieces completely transforms the overall colour but in the best way.

It actually cools everything down and creates the most beautiful, natural looking blend.

We’re so quick to be scared of lowlights, but They’re the reason hair looks as amazing as it does.
