This workbook reflects my beliefs about Hypnobirthing: .

⭐️Hypnobirthing is for all births. We talk about different birth scenarios and our tools are for them all. .

⭐️ A Hypnobirthing course should be interactive. Your voice is the important one in my courses ❤️ .

⭐️Birth partners are gold! They should be as much a part of this as you. .

⭐️Knowledge is power. People fear what they don’t understand. I aim to help you feel knowledgeable about the birthing process and understand what you can do to make it a great experience.

⭐️You are the boss! You are the person that makes the decisions. You can only get this right.

⭐️You and your baby deserve the best possible birth.

I Wish I’d Done Hypnobirthing…

During my pregnancy, I was physically fit—I swam, did pregnancy yoga, walked my dog daily, and nourished myself with healthy foods. I knew preparing for birth was important, and I did what I thought was best at the time. But looking back, so much of the information I had access to focused on the physical side of preparation, rather than a holistic approach that included emotional and psychological readiness.

I had practiced some breathing techniques in pregnancy yoga, and they were hugely beneficial during labour. I had an amazing birth experience with my son. But… there were still moments I felt frightened and out of control.

Knowing what I do now as a hypnobirthing teacher, I wish I’d taken a full hypnobirthing course. I would have prepared for those moments of fear with practical tools—visualisations, relaxation exercises, and affirmations tailored to my own worries and challenges.

Now, when I tell other mums what I do, I often hear “I wish I’d done hypnobirthing.”

Don’t let that be you.

If you’re feeling anxious, worried, or fearful about birth—or if you already feel confident but want to be as prepared as possible—hypnobirthing is for you. Book your course now for a no-regrets experience.

Why I Care So Deeply About Birth ✨

Birth is one of the most powerful, life-changing experiences a person can go through. It’s not just about bringing a baby into the world—it’s about how you feel as you do it. A positive birth matters because:

✨ It shapes the postpartum journey – When birth feels empowering, it sets the tone for early parenthood, building confidence and emotional well-being.

💛 It impacts bonding – Feeling safe, supported, and respected during birth helps create a smoother transition into parenthood and strengthens the bond between parent and baby.

🌿 It matters for mental health – A calm, informed, and positive birth experience can reduce the risk of birth trauma and postpartum anxiety or depression.

🌊 It can be beautiful and empowering – Birth doesn’t have to be feared. With the right preparation, support, and mindset, it can be an experience of strength, connection, and even joy.

This is why I do what I do—because every birthing person deserves to feel empowered, supported, and respected on their journey. Birth matters. 💫

This is Molly, my beloved labradoodle.
In 2021 she birthed 7 healthy pups. This was two years after the birth of my son in 2019.
I found myself wishing I’d witnessed Molly birth her pups before my own birth experience. Why was this?
Because I found myself trusting in nature so much more by just observing her. She knew when the time was right and took her self to her birthing den and birthed her pups with apparent ease. I was the one holding the anxiety and fear, but I didn’t need to as Molly had it all under control instinctively. She certainly wasn’t overthinking anything! When it comes to birth, humans have a lot to learn from other mammals. In the wild, animals instinctively seek out dark, quiet, and safe spaces to birth—free from bright lights, unnecessary interventions, and disturbances. They trust their bodies, move instinctively, and allow the natural process to unfold without fear. Yet, in modern society, birth is often treated as a medical event rather than the deeply physiological and instinctual process it is. By observing and respecting the primal wisdom of other mammals, we can create environments that support undisturbed, empowered, and peaceful births. Birth is not just about science—it’s about trust, safety, and instinct.

I’m Jo, a psychologist with a background in adult mental health, and now a qualified hypnobirthing coach. Throughout my career, I have supported women who have experienced birth trauma and its lasting effects on mental health. Yet, instinctively I’ve always felt that birth doesn’t have to be this way.
I feel strongly that birth trauma is avoidable should we take control of our choices and ensure we practice what will help us relax and enjoy our experience.
I’m deeply passionate about empowering women to feel confident in making decisions about pregnancy, birth and the post partum period. My goal is to support women in having a positive, informed and empowered birth experience that is right for them.
I choose the name Blue Iris for my hypnobirthing practice because of its deep personal significance. After struggling to conceive my child, I turned to hypnotherapy and embraced my IVF journey with a focus on nurturing my mind and body. The results were incredible and I truly believe it was my mindset and the inner work I did during that time that played a pivotal role in achieving what I wanted. This experience inspired me to help others apply similar techniques to their own journeys.
I enjoy planting flowers in the garden, and when a friend once gave me some blue iris to plant in my flower bed in front of the kitchen window. When the flowers bloomed beautifully, I fell in love with them, and upon learning their meaning, I felt a deeper connection.
The blue iris symbolises hope whilst also holding onto faith in the process and trusting your own physiology, which is exactly the mindset I aim to inspire in every woman and couple I work with.
