Someone asked me a few weeks ago: “Is it normal that my stomach was gurgling the entire time during my facial?”
Yes. Completely normal. And here’s why.
When your nervous system shifts from stress into rest, your digestive system wakes back up. The gurgling? That’s your body finally relaxing.
Here are other things that happen during facials that are completely normal (but people think are weird):
Sudden urge to cry
✅ Emotional release. Stress gets stored in your body. When your nervous system finally feels safe, it lets go. Crying during a facial isn’t weird, it’s regulation.
Feeling cold then suddenly warm
✅ Your body temperature changes as your nervous system shifts. Cold = still in sympathetic (stress). Warm = moving into parasympathetic (rest).
Twitching or jerking
✅ Your muscles are releasing tension they’ve been holding. It’s like your body is finally unclenching. Completely normal.
Dreaming weird dreams
✅ You’ve dropped into REM sleep during the treatment. Your brain is processing. This is deep rest.
Feeling floaty or disconnected after
✅ Your nervous system is recalibrating. You’ve been in deep rest for 90 minutes and your body needs a minute to come back online. It’s not weird, it’s regulation.
✅ Snoring (loudly)
Best sound in the world. Means you’re in deep parasympathetic rest. This is the goal.
All of this is your body doing what it’s supposed to do when it finally feels safe.
You’re not weird. Your body is just responding.

Did you know that I work with Reiki
Not only that, but I also work with different kinds of Reiki
Usui
Angelic
Fairy
Crystal
I love working with Reiki and can bring it into my therapies in different forms, that speaks to my heart and soul and to you.
REIKI is a Japanese term that means "universal energy" or "spiritual energy."
WE ARE MADE OF THAT ENERGY.
Reiki, the healing therapy created by a Japanese Buddhist named Mikao Usui over a hundred years ago, is based on a simple spiritual principle: We’re all guided by the same invisible life force, and it controls our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. When the energy flows freely, we can tap into unknown reserves of power. When it runs into blockages (often said to be caused by negative thinking, unhealed trauma, or stress overload), we function at a suboptimal level.
Hold up your finger and look at it. If you dropped a rock on it, slammed a car door on it, pinched it in a drawer or hit it with a hammer, what would you do? If you had a toothache? A stomach ache? Stubbed a toe? The universal response is to immediately hold it in our hands, soothe ourselves with our touch and wish ourselves well. We soothe and nurture a crying child with our touch by holding them, hug a friend in times of emotional or spiritual stress. In every instance we are starting the healing process, delivering Reiki, the universal healing life-force energy to ourselves.
Reiki energy is generally delivered by the hands onto a fully clothed person, but since intention is the key, it can be visualized and sent via a remote or distance session by incorporating the various Reiki symbols, by the eyes and the breath. Reiki is said to heal us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Did You Know.....
That Aromatherapy started my journey many years ago into Complementary Therapies?
Aromatherapy is the use of natural pure essential oils, extracted from plants, roots, flowers, leaves or bark, and can have a powerful balancing and nurturing effect on the entire being.
Do be aware when looking for an aromatherapy massage. I have trained and qualified in Level 4 (Advanced), you will also see some that are Clinical Aromatherapists. Why am I sharing this with you?
I want to make you aware as people have to be trained and qualified to work with Essential Oils because of the reactions that can be caused by these oils. A thorough consultation of a client's health and wellbeing has to be done to make sure that the oils being used are not 'contraindicated' for use with clients who have conditions such as high blood pressure, low blood pressure, pregnant, migraines, epilepsy etc. Now there are oils that can be used to help support these clients and be of benefit to them.
I know I have been trained well to support my clients and a long time of experience of using these oils, but popularity of these Essential Oils have grown (which is good news) but safety of use is paramount!
Please make sure that your therapist has the right qualifications for providing this therapy. You will find my list of my qualifications here https://thewellbeingstudio.net/about-us and continue to learn. I never stop, it is always ongoing to provide the best I can for my clients.

Aromatherapy Awareness Week 8th - 14th June 2026
Aromatherapy is the use of Essential Oils. They're made from parts of certain plants like leaves, seeds, barks, roots, and rinds. Makers use different methods to concentrate them into oils. You may add them to vegetable oils, creams, or bath gels. Or you might smell them, rub them on your skin, or put them in your bath.
Simple smells such as lavender, chamomile, and rosewater may help keep you calm. You can breathe in or rub diluted versions of these oils on your skin. Scientists think they work by sending chemical messages to parts of the brain that affect mood and emotion. Although these scents alone won’t take all your stress away, the aroma may help you relax.
Just because it’s from a plant doesn’t mean it’s safe to rub on your skin, or breathe, or eat, even if it’s “pure.” Natural substances can be irritating, toxic, or cause allergic reactions.
Undiluted oils are too strong to use straight. You’ll need to dilute them, usually with vegetable oils or creams or bath gels, to a solution that only has a little bit -- 1% to 5% -- of the essential oil. Exactly how much can vary. The higher the percentage, the more likely you are to have a reaction, so it’s important to mix them correctly.
It is best to book a massage or buy a bespoke blend from a fully trained aromatherapist. You will go through a full consultation to check which oils will be of benefit and support you, which are safe to use and also for any contraindications - which means the oils that need to be avoided if you are pregnant, high blood pressure etc.
If you look for a professional aromatherapist, do your homework. As a member of The Federation Of Holistic Therapists I am on their Register which is like a kite mark to prove that I am properly trained and meet a certain standard. I am very proud to be a member and be on that register.

Hay fever is a common allergic condition. It affects up to 1 in 5 people at some point in their life.
You'll experience hay fever symptoms if you have an allergic reaction to pollen.
Pollen is a fine powder released by plants as part of their reproductive cycle. It contains proteins that can cause the nose, eyes, throat and sinuses to become swollen, irritated and inflamed.
You can have an allergy to:
tree pollen, released during spring
grass pollen, released during the end of spring and beginning of summer
w**d pollen, released late autumn.
The symptoms of hay fever include:
frequent sneezing
runny or blocked nose
itchy, red or watery eyes (allergic conjunctivitis)
an itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
cough, caused by postnasal drip (mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose)
Antihistamines can control your symptoms, but there are other things you can do as well.
Natural remedies used in conjunction with medical care and used with your doctor’s approval, may help support you with your allergic problems.
What is hay fever?
One in four people in the UK suffers from hay fever, an allergic reaction to pollen with the worst times of year to be affected between March and September. Pollen is usually higher during this time of year due to the warmer, windy and more humid climate. Hay fever can last for weeks or months.
Common hay fever symptoms:
· Excessive sneezing
· Coughing
· Runny or blocked nose
· Irritated, red, watery and itchy eyes
· Loss of smell
· Headache and pain around your temples
· Earache
· Fatigue
Although not preventable, hay fever symptoms can be eased. Over the counter medications are available, but they aren’t for everyone.
The good news is sufferers can use the power of essential oils to create homemade remedies for hay fever which many find help ease some of the most annoying of symptoms and irritations. Remember to use qualified therapists to get support.
