You don’t have to choose between embracing your grey and enjoying beautiful, modern colour.

Because you really can have both.

Life lately - the non-hair edition

A little glimpse of summer outside the salon… family time, days out, good food, sunshine and making the most of the holidays ✨

Because as much as I love hair, there’s a whole lot of life happening away from the salon too

Who said grey blending has to be silver?

Grey blending isn’t always about creating a cool, icy or completely natural grey result.

For some clients, there’s a middle ground.

This client wanted to move away from the constant cycle of covering her natural grey, but she wasn’t ready to embrace a cooler, more silver result.

So we created a warmer grey blend, using warmer ash tones to complement her natural grey and create a softer, warmer overall result.

And the first photo?

That’s her 3-month regrowth.

You can still see her natural regrowth, but there’s no solid block of colour or harsh line of demarcation.

Now, there is a compromise…

A warmer grey blend can require more maintenance than a cooler, more natural grey blend.

But for some women, that’s the perfect middle ground.

It means you can step away from traditional permanent root coverage without necessarily going straight to a cool, silver-grey result.

Grey blending is not one-size-fits-all.

There are different ways to approach it, and the right option depends on your natural grey, your existing colour, your desired result and importantly, how much maintenance you’re prepared to have.

Sometimes you don’t need to choose between covering your grey and fully embracing it.

There can be another option.

What if you’re not ready to fully embrace your grey, but you’re also fed up with covering it?

There could be another option…

For some clients, the answer isn’t going fully grey just yet. It’s finding that comfortable middle ground.

This client wanted to keep some depth, not go to light and brassy and this is what she was getting from traditional colour.

We used a demi colour through the roots, kept the front lighter where she has a higher percentage of natural grey, and added delicate foils to mimic her natural grey and help blend everything together.

The result is a much softer grow-out, with no harsh line of demarcation or brassy banding.

It still needs maintenance, but she can now comfortably go around 8 weeks between appointments.

Lower maintenance doesn’t mean no maintenance. It’s about finding a colour plan that works with your natural grey and your lifestyle.

And if you’re not ready for the full grey embrace, that’s absolutely okay.
