Intradermal naevus on the cheek 🩺🥼

An intradermal naevus is a common benign type of mole that often appears as a raised, skin-coloured or slightly pigmented bump.

Because these lesions can be quite prominent on the face, some patients choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons.

In suitable cases, a shave excision can be used to remove the raised part of the lesion without the need for stitches. The tissue can then be sent for histological examination to confirm the diagnosis.

What the dermatoscope couldn’t tell me…

A dermatoscope is an incredibly useful tool for examining skin lesions, but it doesn’t always give us a definitive diagnosis.

Sometimes a lesion can look suspicious, yet its true nature can only be confirmed by removing it and examining the tissue under a microscope (histology).

That’s why clinical assessment, dermoscopy and, when appropriate, histology all have an important role in diagnosing skin lesions.

Massage cream for post-procedure care

Post-procedure massage can be an important part of aftercare for some treatments, but it should only be done when appropriate and at the right stage of healing.

I use a suitable massage cream to help reduce friction and make the massage more comfortable, while supporting gentle aftercare of the treated area.

This patient wanted to remove a raised intradermal naevus for cosmetic reasons.

An intradermal naevus is a common benign type of mole that can appear as a raised, flesh-coloured bump on the skin. In suitable cases, a shave excision can remove the raised lesion without the need for stitches.

The area is allowed to heal naturally, and the final appearance continues to improve over time.

This result shows the area 6 months after the procedure.

Can Radiesse® and NCTF® be used together?

Yes—when they are appropriate for your skin and treatment goals, Radiesse® and NCTF® can be combined as part of the same treatment plan.

They have different roles. Radiesse® is used to provide structural support and stimulate collagen production, while NCTF® is designed to improve skin hydration and overall skin quality.

Using them together can allow us to address more than one concern during a treatment session. However, the decision to combine treatments should always be based on an individual assessment and carried out using an appropriate technique.
