I haven’t worked for 3 months now and I really miss being in the salon. I’m always busy behind the scenes, and have been focusing on running the business and marketing but it was great to get behind the chair today.

2016 trend ✨

Everyone’s doing it so I had a look back at what was doing 10 years ago. I didn’t realise it was such an important year!

I was working at Toni & Guy in Wakefield. I got promoted to salon manager and was honestly thriving in my career. I had an amazing boss who I still a very good friend today.

Towards the end of the year my health was suffering so I made a very impulsive decision to leave and stop doing hair for a little while. I then joined Toni and Guy Boar Lane in Leeds as front of house. It was a huge step down but I absolutely loved every minute of it.

After a while I started colouring at the salon alongside Holly and Liv. Two incredibly important people in my future but we had no idea at the time.

I’d already started putting the wheels in motion to become freelance and was building a strong clientele at home. In early 2017 Toni and Guy closed and I made the leap into self employed life.

After a traumatic business partnership and a force closure of my own little salon space due to lock down, I opened Olive and Co. in 2025.

I often feel like I dropped the ball with the salon last year but I’m still incredibly proud of it and all the amazing women I’ve had the privilege to work alongside there.

Hello everyone.

You probably saw my last post about my time in hospital recently. After a few days to reflect, I’ve decided to take a step back from work.

I have cancelled all my appointments for the foreseeable future and I’m not planning on returning until the new baby is here and I’m ready to start doing hair again.

This has been such a hard decision for me to make and I have struggled so much this week. I feel like I’ve let everyone down at my busiest time of year. But the reality is my family really need me at the moment. I feel like I’ve been pouring from an empty cup for quite some time now and can’t continue to do so. This next chapter is going to be about making memories and slowing down.

The support from my clients that I’ve cancelled has been absolutely unbelievable. I feel so grateful to every single one of you for your kindness.

I will still be in the salon when possible to run the business and support the girls over their busy time. I hope you all understand and will keep the Olive and Co girls busy in my absence. They are angels.

Sorry for the silence 🤍

I arrived home yesterday after 6 days in hospital with issues relating to my autoimmune disease Lupus. It’s been a really hard few days but me and the baby are both fine.

I have some annual leave until Sunday for a little restful trip to Filey with my Mum, Cali and Olive. I will get back to everyone over the next few days when I get chance.
