Trapezoidal nails 😬😬

A trapezoidal nail naturally flares wider towards the free edge, which can make creating those clean parallel sidewalls a little more challenging.

The key is not trying to file the natural nail into a slimmer profile. Instead, use your product to create better proportions and structure. This is where hard gel comes in to it.

Whilst soft gel definitely has its place, it isn’t usually my go-to for nails that need architectural correction. Soft gel is designed to be more flexible and generally follows the natural shape of the nail, whereas hard gel allows me to create and maintain structure, reinforce the stress area and refine the shape with much more control.

Because you’re building the architecture rather than simply following the natural nail, you are then able to encourage the nail into a straighter, more parallel shape without unnecessarily removing the sidewalls.

Do you find trapezoidal nails tricky? You are not alone!

My online accredited courses teach you how to work with and transform tricky nails with hard gel. You’ll learn advanced methods of using different types of hard gel to create thin but strong nails. Link in bio 💌

I use hard gel on almost every client and over time it’s just become the product I feel most comfortable working with.

I like being able to have a bit more control over the structure of the nail, like where it needs strength and where it doesn’t. One of my favourite things about hard gel is how versatile it is. I can use it differently depending on the nail I’m working on, whether that’s adding a little extra strength, building structure, repairing a break or creating a completely new shape. The options are endless!!!

For me, it’s just about having a product that lets me tailor the structure to the individual nail rather than taking the same approach with everyone.

It’s definitely not the only way to do nails, it’s just what works best for me and the way I like to work 😁

Do you use hard gel on every client? I wanna know!! ❤️

What happens when you feel you’ve outgrown being a beginner BUT you’re not quite at the point where you feel confident dealing with every problem that comes through your door?

It’s a weird awkward feeling but know this, you don’t lack skill. What if you’ve just reached the end of the knowledge you currently have?

You can do the nails. You’ve got the clients. You know your stuff.

But then a situation arises where your stumped.

The one whose nails have been lifting for months. The one who can never seem to get past a certain length. The one where you’ve tried everything you know and you’re still thinking, “What am I honestly missing?”

That feeling in your belly is the worst when you care so much about being good at what you do.

Maybe you don’t need to be better at the things you already know, maybe there is just more to learn than you first thought!

Not another technique to copy, but the knowledge behind why things are happening, so you can actually work out what needs to change.

You become very valuable when you can solve people’s problems 👏🏻

This whole caption is my WHY. My whole reason for creating my accredited online courses that bridge that gap. Techniques that saved my career and my clients nails. I’m not exaggerating when I say learning them was like someone turned the light on for me, now I wanna turn the light on for you ❤️ the link is in my bio x

Are you a victim of lifting with hard gel?

If the free edge is flexible and you apply a rigid product like hard gel straight over it, you’re asking two very different things to work together.

And that’s where reinforcement comes in.

It’s not about adding loads of product or making the nail thick, we gotta give the natural nail the support it needs before putting something more rigid over the top.

There’s a reason I wouldn’t apply hard gel straight onto this nail now.

Understanding the nail in front of you will always beat following a set application routine 💕

If you’re a victim of buying a flame bit because everyone uses one, I did too!! I had no idea being taught how to use it *properly* and SAFELY would expand my world beyond belief!!!

I trained in efile and a flame bit wasn’t even part of it… debulking at 10RPM was though!!! 😱

So many techs are upskilling right now as the industry is a constant conveyor belt of products and trends but one thing that stands and will always remain is proper knowledge.

Don’t settle for bog standard knowledge. Techniques, products and trends will always come and go but fundamentals don’t.

My accredited advanced online courses were created because I was once the confused customer buying into all the drill bits and products with zero clue. I will explain it all to you in detail. Link in my bio 💌

The angle you hold your flame bit at has a huge impact on how effectively it exfoliates the cuticle and how safely you work around the nail.

It’s such a small adjustment BUT one that can completely change how your prep feels and looks. Better visibility, cleaner exfoliation and less unnecessary contact with the nail plate.

The best flame bit in the world won’t compensate for the wrong positioning. The angle is what allows the bit to do the job it was designed to do 💖
