💋 UNDERSTANDING LIP ANATOMY

At VVS Aesthetics, understanding anatomy is at the heart of safe and effective aesthetic treatments.

The lips are made up of several important anatomical structures, each contributing to their shape, movement and overall appearance.

✨ Cupid’s Bow – the distinctive double curve at the centre of the upper lip.

✨ Philtral Columns – the two raised vertical lines running from the upper lip towards the nose, helping to define the central lip.

✨ Vermilion Border – the line where the coloured part of the lip meets the surrounding skin. Definition here plays an important role in lip shape.

✨ Vermilion – the pink/red portion of the lips that gives them their visible volume and shape.

✨ Oral Commissures – the corners of the mouth where the upper and lower lips meet.

✨ Orbicularis Oris – the muscle surrounding the mouth, responsible for movement of the lips when speaking, eating and expressing emotion.

The lips also have a rich blood supply, which is why detailed knowledge of vascular anatomy is essential when performing injectable treatments.
