After another 10+ hours in SAU yesterday, I’m finally back home resting again 🖤

I did try to come into work today, but very quickly realised I was pushing myself. I only managed to see two clients before accepting that I just need a little more time to rest and catch up on a lot of lost sleep 😴

I got home in the early hours this morning, so I think I was a little delulu thinking I could just get up and go to work 🥲

For tomorrow’s clients, you may also be messaged about rescheduling, but for now I’m just going to see how I feel in the morning.

I know I’m veryyyyy behind with messages at the moment, and I’m really sorry if I haven’t replied to you. Ive been taking some time to myself but have been receiving a lot of messages from people confused why I haven’t responded so I feel I need to explain for those who have missed some of my stories. I have managed to respond to some, but others, particularly messages that require me to use my work iPad (tattoo designs etc.) I haven’t been able to get to yet as I haven’t got my iPad on me. Please know I’m not intentionally ignoring anyone, there is a reason for the delay ❤️

As most of you already know, I fell very sick midway through a client on Thursday and went home thinking I was just coming down with a bug. By Friday night, it became very clear that it was a lot more than that. I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain and ended up spending over 10 hours at A&E and now know that the vomiting was an effect of this pain not a bug.

I’ve now been given some strong medication, which has made me feel a lottttt better when I take it. I’m also booked in for some scans on Monday afternoon, after which I’ll be waiting for the results to see if it is what they suspect it is that’s causing me pain.

At the moment, I’m planning to be back to work as normal on Tuesday as the medication is helping me manage the symptoms, but please be aware that this may change depending on the scan results and how I’m feeling. Appointments may also need to be rescheduled if necessary.

The strong painkillers are making me a little zoned out, so if I’m quieter than normal, please don’t be offended! And hopefully I’ll see you all next week to fill you in 🤍

And that’s the reality of running a business. It isn’t instant profit. Sometimes it takes years to see the results, and that’s okay. It’s normal, and it’s healthy.

Sometimes you have to take big risks to earn big rewards. Taking the easy route doesn’t always get you where you want to be.

21 year old me had the ambition and determination to make it, and 26 year old me is still fighting to get there 🤣

I hope this shows anyone who’s new to the industry and struggling that what you’re feeling is completely normal. Keep going, stay consistent, and trust the process, it will be worth it 💛

In this economy, every single year a small business stays open is a huge achievement because… boiiiiii, it’s hard out here! 😅

then The Mabbs Academy of Beauty…
and despite the logo on my wall still needing to be changed 🤣… we’re now Studio Mabbs.

(I think the name changes are enough proof that I have severe ADHD. 😂)

But one thing that has never changed is the incredible support I get from you all. 🥹 My very first clients are still with me five years later, despite countless price increases, changes to my opening hours, moving locations, and all the new business ventures I’ve thrown into the mix. For that, I will be forever grateful. ❤️

My business looks so different now compared to when I first started, and I honestly wouldn’t change the journey. It’s no secret that I am absolutely IN LOVE with tattooing. 🫣 I had to work my way through makeup, lashes, brows, nails, and more before I found the thing I was truly passionate abou, but every step of that journey was worth it.

And we’re definitely not stopping here… 👀

I have some BIG plans for Studio Mabbs that should start coming to life in 2027. You know I always have to keep you all on your toes with something new! 😅
