⚡Let's Talk.. Episode Four

Skin Type

This is a very important part of my job and one I take incredibly seriously.
Diode lasers work best on skin types 1-4 due to the nature of how they work.
The diode works by targeting the pigment in the hair and heating it to over 70 degrees. With a skin type 1 to 3 there is a bigger contrast between the skin and the hair follicle meaning there is less chance of risk to the skin.
As the skin type increases the contrast diminishes and there is more risk of damage such as hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation as well as burns.
With a skin type 4 care is taken and adjustments made accordingly where the skin can be darker. This is mainly found in more intimate areas.

During your hair removal consultation, a large part of the appointment is used to determine the skin type and advice and guidance is given at this point.

Diode is not suitable for clients with skin type 5&6 and more laser machines are required to ensure skin health and safety

⚡ It's been a busy few months with many new faces so here is a little about the face behind the brand!!

I'm not just a laser tech and my studio isn't just a room in my home, this is a passion that has been built from my own struggles and now I get to give back to my clients in a space and happy space and because of you guys, I do this every day!!!!

So here's a few things about me!

⚡ Im Steph, a 38 year old Italian mum of two married to a Viking
⚡Football and cheer mum with a dog Pixie and cat Bowie that also love my clients! Yes, you can ask to see her after your ap!!
⚡ Leopard print is my favourite colour!! And pink! It's all over our home and yes, my husband loves it too!!
⚡I am have a twin sister that is a digital marketing queen and most people know my baby sister 𝖳𝖧𝖤 𝖭𝖠𝖪𝖤𝖣 𝖢𝖫𝖨𝖭𝖨𝖢 𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴 . I am so lucky to have them!
⚡I am scared of heights but I LOVE flying!!
⚡My music tastes are varied from classical to heavy metal and my playlist is mental! Love variety!!
⚡I have PCOS as well as a blood condition called Mediterranean macro thrombocytopenia!!! I have no issues getting tattooed!!!
⚡New tattoo day and new lip day are my favourite!! Rocky McGhee is your guy btw for ink!!!
⚡I am a big advocate of women supporting and cheering other women!!!! We are a mighty breed and we need to support and cheer our ladies and not compete or bring each other down!! We are super heroes!!!

⚡Let's Talk... Episode Three

Follicles

Laser hair removal works by heating the follicle to 70 degrees, sending the heat down the hair shaft and damaging the root permanently.

This can only happen when the follicles is in the Anagen phase or the 'growing phase'.
The hair has a root and a blood supply meaning it is active and therefore able to be zapped at your treatment session

When follicles are in the Telogen phase or the 'dormant phase' they will not be affected by the laser as their roots have detached and they are anchored before shedding.
This is why it is important to maintain your sessions to every 3-5 weeks depending on area and growth so that we can continue to work through the active growth phases to achieve your goal of hair free

Our bodies are fascinating but unpredictable, when a follicle is dead it can't be revived, but you can produce new hair growing follicles. This is why maintenance sessions are essential!

Tattoos

There are many factors to consider when looking at tattoo removal and these factors also have an impact on the removal journey. Let's look at them...

⚡Age of the tattoo:
Changes and developments in tattoo inks mean they are brighter and hold their colour, this makes removal longer and some colours can be more stubborn (reds and blues) The older the tattoo, the quicker we can see results
⚡Location
Tattoo removal uses your lymphatic system to clean up so the further away from the heart the longer it can take to see results
⚡ Aftercare
I preach a lot about this!!! Follow the correct after care and you WILL see better results !
⚡Colours
As above, some colours are easier to remove than others. Black is my favourite and while my machine will remove colour, I won't work on a full colour tattoo. Small areas are welcome!
⚡Skin type
The higher the skin type the more you are at risk of damage such as hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. This can require more specialist lasers and is something to consider. Your skin health is my priority
⚡Skin Health
Your skin goes through a process during laser and it is imperative that you look after it before as well as after. Without proper care your removal can lead to blistering and scarring which then makes full removal impossible
